Claims

Captain America Big Bang will have two rounds of claims. Round 1 will open on July 27, 2019 at 4 PM UTC and will close once every fic has been claimed.

Round 2 opens on August 3, 2019 and will last for 24 hours.
Round 2 will be opt-in for both authors and artists, so not all fics may be up for a second claim.

FOR AUTHORS

  • The summary slide is meant to give artists an idea of what kind of story to expect. You may also submit an optional one-page excerpt of your fic that will be viewable by artists together with the summary.

  • Your summary slide and (optional) excerpt must be final for Claims. We will be compiling your submissions as soon as we receive them. To facilitate this process, we will not accept any revisions until the review stage (see below).

  • We will send the compiled slides and (optional) excerpts to all authors to review before Claims. At this point, we will allow one set of minor revisions (such as typo errors, updates to ratings, warnings, and tags) before we send the compiled slides to artists.

We will work to make sure every fic has an artist.
  • If a summary is unclaimed, it will go to pinch hits. We will invite pinch hitters to submit their claims for the summary on a first come, first served basis.

  • If an author does not wish to go to pinch hits, they may withdraw their summary from the Bang.

FOR ARTISTS

  • The compiled summary slides and (optional) excerpts will be available for preview for artists on July 20, 2019. These will be sent through email.

  • Artists will claim authors’ anonymous fic summaries on a first come, first served basis.

  • Claims will be done via time-stamped Google Forms and will be allocated in the order that forms are received. The Google Forms will be sent via email.

  • To give all artists an equal chance, one (1) claim will be allocated for each form.

  • If you would like to claim more than one (1) fic, you will need to fill out the form again.

  • Please be advised that the form questions are in image format and auto-fillers will not function.

  • Artists may claim up to five (5) fics in total in the Bang, however each fic can only be claimed one (1) time during Round 1.

  • If you cannot make it to Claims, proxies are allowed.

  • If you are proxying for someone else, simply fill out the claims form using the email address, username, URL, and choices of the person you are claiming for.

  • If you cannot find a proxy, please email us at [email protected] and we will help you find one.

TUTORIAL: CLAIMS ROUND 1
Thank you for joining Claims Round 1! Round 2 details will be up shortly.

TUTORIAL: CLAIMS ROUND 2

It’s almost time for Round 2 of Claims for the 2019 Captain America Big Bang! We’ve put together the following tutorial to make sure that everyone knows what to expect out of the process.

Round 2 opens at 3 AM UTC on Saturday, August 3rd 2019 (what time is that for me?) and will last for 24 hours. It will be opt-in for both authors and artists, so not all fics will be up for a second claim.
  • Artists may claim more fics, as long as they do not exceed the five (5) fics limit allowed per artist for the whole Bang.
  • There is a limit of two (2) artists allowed to be working on a single fic. Since all fics have already been claimed once in Round 1, each fic can only be claimed once in Round 2.
  • Artists working on the same fic can collaborate if they wish to, but it isn’t by any means required.

CapBB 2019 Slides
We have sent out a compilation of all the fics in Round 2 in a slide presentation. The slides include relevant story information and links, as well as a number in the upper right hand corner. The slides look like this:

HOW TO SUBMIT A CLAIM:

You will receive a Claims Form in your email. It is currently not accepting submissions and will open at 3 AM UTC on Saturday, August 3rd 2019 (what time is that for me?)

1. Fill out the form with your email address, your username, and your age confirmation. Please double check that you have filled in your email address correctly as a copy of the claims form will be emailed to the address you provide. You must submit your claim using the email address and username you signed up with as this will be how we identify you during claims.

2. List at least one (1) fic choice. Use the number found in the upper right corner of the summary slide. Please do not use fic titles.

3. You have the option of listing another four (4) choices in the form.

4. We will not be giving priority to resubmissions in this round.

REMINDER: If you want to claim more than one fic, you must submit one (1) form for each fic you want to claim.

HOW TO READ THE CLAIMS RESULTS SHEET:

Please watch this spreadsheet after you submit your claims form to see your final assignment!

Once you’ve submitted your claim, you’ll be able to watch the allocation process live on the Claims Results Sheet. You can see an example of what this sheet will look like below:

CHOICES COLUMNS

A gray cell in the Choices column indicates the fic with that number has been claimed.
A white cell in the Choices column means that the fic is still free to claim.

ARTIST LIMIT COLUMN

Artists can claim up to five (5) fics total for the Bang. If the Claims Results sheet highlights the Artist Limit column in red next to your claims, you have maxed out your claims.

FINAL ASSIGNMENT COLUMN

The number highlighted in yellow in the Final Assignment column is the fic you have successfully claimed.

Resubmissions

If all your choices have been claimed, the whole row on the Claims Results Sheet will be highlighted with ‘RESUBMIT’ on the Final Assignment column. If this happens, you are invited to resubmit your claims form with new choices.
Please note, we will not be giving priority to resubmissions in this round.

Proxying
If you are proxying for someone else, simply fill out the claims form using the email address, username, and choices of the person you are claiming up for.

Final Assignments
The Mods will email both artists and authors as soon as possible following claims to confirm final assignments. If you have not received your assignment email within 3 days of Round 2 closing, please email us at [email protected].

AFTER CLAIMS

We encourage teams to get in touch with each other as soon as possible after we have sent the team confirmation assignments.
  • Please facilitate a communication method that works best for your team (e.g. email, chat, or other venues)

  • The CapBB Discord is also open for you to communicate with each other

Authors should discuss any significant changes to the story content, tags, and archive warnings of the fic with collaborating artist/s.

If a fic was claimed by a minor, the fic rating cannot be increased to Mature or Explicit.
