NOC

I was trying to come up with a catchy name to title this post but the truth is I could not come up with one. Last Wednesday on August 13, I found out I was finally granted NOC. In fact it was actually dated Tuesday, August 12. I could not be more happy. This has been a long time coming. And for many of us Ind*a families, this is the biggest step. This step shows that the government in charge of adoption has no objection to me adopting my sweet baby Elliott. This was by far the hardest weight yet. I have a suspicion that the further along I get in this process the harder the weight will come. As far as my next steps I am now waiting for my case to be filed in the court. Once of my case is approved, the judge will have to grant written orders. Once my orphanage receives those written orders they will apply for his passport. Once that beautiful passport is in the hands of the orphanage, this mama can go get her boy!  I am praying very hard that this November 9, my 32nd birthday, I will have Elliott in my arms forever and always. Please continue to pray for my case to move swiftly. I know Christmas seems so far away but for those of us in the adoption world, Christmas is looking very closely.

While I wait for court, I have been very busy preparing my fields for the flood. I am proud to say Elliotts bedroom and bathroom are now complete and are waiting for him to get home. For his bedroom my friend Lynn helped me paint and organize. I went with the Noah's Ark theme because I love animals and more importantly I love that Noah's Ark is a Christian Bible story. Elliotts bathroom was graciously painted by my dad. I went with something that is near and dear to my family's heart and I really hope will be near and dear to my son's heart – Mickey Mouse!

As my summer comes to a close, I reflect that none of this would be possible without my Lord. He has been my strength in this process. I turned to him and give him my son. For no matter how much I love Elliot Francis, God will love him much, much more.

Home Stretch

To my close friends and family, it is no new news that this school year has been a trying one. It seems that since I started back in late August, things were not going my way. Between several adoption road blocks, I have had a situation with a parent where God was called upon more often than not. This situation almost caused health problems. It was not until I chose to give it to God, that I learned to live with it. It is bewildering to me that their our people that do not believe in God. How do they get up and face their days?  The adoption process has taught me to look to God in all times, not just bad times. Well with the school year winding down, and a stomach bug that wasted two of my days this week, I can breathe. I have 28 fourth graders, 28 opinionated, energetic, amazing fourth graders. The Unexpected

 Last night I left off I had lost little boy who I believe briefly with my son. I kind of took a step away from the adoption community and more importantly from the thought of adoption. But I would be lying if I didn’t say it was always in the back of my mind.  My agency does a wonderful job of advocating for children who are hard to place and I viewed several files, mostly girls because I was convinced I was going to adopt again then I would go for a daughter. Every once in a while I would ask for a boy but mostly I was looking at little girls files. Update

2015 has come and gone. How blessed am I that I have to spend 365 days with my sweet, sweet, Elliott. he has grown so much, and learned so many new things, I am impressed each and every day.  It seems life has gotten in the way of my blog as I have always hoped it wouldn't. In an effort to not have the worlds longest post, I will do a brief update on each month. 8/15 Elliott's first day of preschool. He was so excited.....until the drop off. He was terrified and I was a wreak. The tears lasted for several weeks but I am happy to report he LOVES school now and gets upset when he doesn't go. 9/15 We enjoyed going to our local Indian festival. I am sad to report Elliott is not a fan of Indian food. We also enjoyed the beautiful weather at our local playground. After months of terror, Elliott loved the swing and refused to get off it! 10/15 Elliott's first Halloween was a success. He made the cutest Harry Potter ever.
