These are the last of the fall flowers in the front yard.  They look like pink daisies but I think they're actually chrysanthemums.  We got our first hard frost last night, so they'll be dying back soon, too.

I'm musing on night over on Mortal Muses today.  Won't you join us?

day 300 of 365

I loved these ghostly little flowers in the gardens at the Vanderbilt Mansion.

I'm musing on my love affair with light over on Mortal Muses today.  We're featuring 9 days of inspiration -- and 9 days of amazing giveaways.  Stop by!

Oh, and look!  It's day 300.  Only 65 more days to go before I finish my 365 project.  How time does fly.

What's your definition? Blue is _______?

ImageLittle Miss Muffet, sat on her tuffet....

In a fairy tale book somewhere, I remember seeing an illustration of Little Miss Muffet sitting on her tuffet, which was depicted as a beautiful Queen Anne's lace flower (like the one above), and her tea set was all made out of other flowers -- bluebells. buttercups, and daisies.

Along came a spider....

If you click the photo once, and then click it again to see it largest, you'll notice that Little Miss Muffet's spider friend has arrived to share her tea.

the big 5-0

ImageI wanted to pause in the course of my daily posts to do a little dance of celebration -- there are now 50 official followers of this blog, which is a kind of a wonderful-kooky-baffling-phenomenal thing. To people with wildly popular blogs, this might not seem like such a big milestone. But to me it's pretty darn cool. So -- many thanks to all of you who follow me each day. Give yourselves a round of applause, a pat on the back, a kiss on the cheek, and a great big hug. I try to follow each of your blogs, too, and comment when I can.

For those of you who follow unofficially, or who haven't left a comment before, I'd love to hear from you -- leave a comment below with your thoughts, or a link to your blog or website or flickr photostream. I really love to hear what you're doing, see the amazing photos that you're taking, or read the inspiring words you've written.

Happy Mother's Day, everyone. Hannah's gift to me is pictured in the post below -- and the flowers in the photo above were given to me by my son Nick. Thanks so much to my great kids for making me feel special. You can read a post I wrote about them last week (on my other blog) here.
