About

Hi, thanks for dropping by! This is where I write about things that interest, excite and amuse me (I hope the things I write interest, excite and amuse you too!). I write about the most random of things, but the recurring themes (can you call them themes?) are food, photography, and life!

History
I started blogging in oh, maybe 2005 (I can't quite recall the exact date, it's been many years, many memories, some quite faded from existence). That was around the time I started my freshman year in university, and back then my blog was called My Life As A Crazy Freshman. I know, quite a mouthful, and that blog has disappeared into cyberspace now (pity, it was a rather amusing blog). I figured I couldn't quite change the name of my blog each year, and eventually I ended up with this blog (the one you're reading right this instant). And look, what d'you know, we're already in 2012! If you're feeling in the mood to cycle through the archives far enough (or if you're just plain bored), you'll be able to follow my craziness through the years. I like to think I've grown a bit since those early years. Not so crazy anymore. I hope.

Geography
I currently live in Kuching, which is located somewhere on the beautiful and exotic island of Borneo. We have good weather (I like it best during the monsoon months, when it rains a lot), good people (very friendly bunch we are), and perhaps more importantly, great food! I was briefly in Sydney to study, but that was in 2010 and I'm back in Kuching! Such a wonderful place, very hard to leave!

Random
Here are some bits and pieces about me:
  • I like food. I like to cook food, take photos of food, read about food, watch food, and of course, eat food. I like to cook in the middle of the night. I like to make pasta from scratch. I'm particularly proud of my bagels and fuyu cake, and I make a mean guacamole. I dream of one day having a kitchen so beautifully stocked up with all sorts of ingredients that people would be able to pop in at any hour of the day or night (er on second thoughts maybe not), and I'd be able to whip up a good feast and feed them.
  • I like photography, and I shoot with a Pentax K-x. I've got lots to learn and a long way to go. I like to shoot food, people, places, and the world we live in. Sometimes I go on photowalks with fellow photo-enthusiast friends, and we become pretty snap-crazy, but hey that's fine. I'd like to have a camera upgrade soon, and it's prolly still gonna be a Pentax.
  • I like literature. I like it so much, I did a Masters in it. Some people tell me it's a pretty useless degree, but hey, I didn't do it for my career; I did it because it's my passion. The genres I am particularly interested in are sci-fi/fantasy, dystopia, chick lit, and the classics. Really eclectic. I'm not really into poetry, but from time to time I feel the urge to rhyme up some words and describe reality.
  •  I recently got into the whole Korean thing (late 2011!), and have watched quite a few k-dramas to date (you can check out the full list here). I like the music (may I recommend Yi Seung Yeol and FT Island?), the food (bring on the kimchi, people!), and the language (I can read and write Korean, and understand the basics). I intend to backpack across Korea in the near future.
  • If I could have a pet, it would prolly be a toy poodle. Or a shih-poo. Or a terrapin. Or a little pony. *looooooong story* By the way, haaaave you met Pet Potato?
  • I am into oxfords and boots of all kinds. However, the weather in Borneo isn't quite conducive to the wearing of knee-highs, so I keep myself happy with flats and heels-that-think-they're-boots.
  • I like music from the 80s and early 90s. I don't think the music you get on the airwaves today can be classified as music.

Wanna buzz me a line?
The best way is to just leave a comment in the section beneath each blogpost, or the little chatbox on the lower right section of this blog. I'm also on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram.

Thanks for visiting, and I look forward to seeing you around (drop me a line to let me know you were here!). Here's to many days of blogging, people! Cheers!
