I wrote this on Facebook tonight and their AI removed it citing cyber security concerns. I thought it seemed good so wanted to share. More an example of how clever AI is getting. May seem funny now, but trust me, from an expert, it is no joke. 2026 (maybe 2027) will be a significant year in human history. However, it is mostly smoke and mirrors right now. It is just computer programming and software, but they call it AI. There is nothing intelligent or artificial about it. Dismissing bad actors for now it is the lack of people in power's intelligence and their apathy (and laziness and to save money) as the biggest issue we face. It is how some will trust it without question and blame it for their actions. That has happened already. Unlike technology of the past one of the primary goals is for it to seem as real as possible. It lies to you rather than say it does not know. They call it AI delusions but it is an intentional part of the programming. VPN and ad/tracker blocker is now a necessity not a nice to have and that will be good for only so long. Buy it now before you are asked for your papers to do so and don't complain about it as they put it under the umbrella of protecting children who by the way will be tracked and monitored for the rest of their lives (we will welcome it into our homes). You would think it's science fiction and paranoia but it is very real unfortunately. Take solace that it is already too late and not much anyone can do. Our generation will also be dead before too long and immigrants are the least of your problems! If anyone cares or even understands, Muhlvad or Proton for VPN. (Nord and a few others are the McDonalds of VPN's and free one's are 'dangerous'.) The AI and privacy concerns are separate issues and also spilt between commercial and political interests, but they are intertwined and linked to advancements in technology and that will become more apparent soon. If there is a conspiracy theory or valid reason behind what governments and tycoons around the world are doing, who knows, these are just the facts and these people do not value freedom. "You may feel free in the future but it is an illusion and they may not want you to feel free." Proudly not written by AI. Tom Speirs. 2025 Ps: Shortly after writing this, Facebook removed it and restricted my account. AI at work for you but pretty ironic.2 points

@tthurman I *FINALLY* have a build that will put my original Steam Controller to use! And, if I choose, it can play PONG! I acquired an HP Pavilion 590-p0024 with the following specs: Processor: AMD Ryzen 3 2200G Memory (RAM): 12GB DDR4 (Shared with integrated graphics, expandable to 32GB) Storage: 1TB SSD Operating System: Windows 10 Home (64-bit) Graphics: Integrated AMD Radeon Vega Graphics (from the CPU) Connectivity: Gigabit Ethernet, Bluetooth, USB A 3.1, USB A 2.0, USB C ports SATA ports: 3 Optical Drive: DVD RW Power Supply: 180w I made the following additions/upgrades: Upgraded CPU (eBay): AMD CPU Ryzen 7 2700 3.2GHZ Socket AM4 Added discrete GPU (eBay): GIGABYTE Radeon RX 6500 XT EAGLE 4GB GDDR6 GPU Added Wifi/Bluetooth PCI card (Linux Compatible): OKN WiFi 6E AX5400 PCIe WiFi Card for Desktop PC (Intel AX210) Bluetooth 5.3, WPA3, 802.11AXE Tri Band Wireless Adapter with MU-MIMO, OFDMA Added 1TB M.2 NVME SSD: WD Blue SN5100 1TB NVMe SSD - M.2 2280, PCIe Gen 4.0 - Read Speeds Up to 7,100MB/s, Upgrade Storage for PC/Laptops - WDS100T5B0E Added 4TB HDD: Seagate BarraCuda 4TB Internal Hard Drive HDD – 3.5 Inch Sata 6 Gb/s 5400 RPM 256MB Cache Upgraded RAM to 32GB: Timetec Premium 32GB KIT(2x16GB) DDR4 2666MHz PC4-21300 Non-ECC Unbuffered 1.2V CL19 2Rx8288 Pin UDIMM Upgraded PSU to 400w (eBay): L04618-800 400W Power Supply For HP 590 OS: Windows 11 Home The PC is a short form factor, using the HP "Sunflower" motherboard, which is limited to one PCI-E 16 and one PCI-E 1 slot, no additional USB headers, and 3 SATA ports. I may decide to add another SSD or HDD, but for now, I think 2TB total storage will do. For initial testing of components, I installed Windows 11 Home on the NVME drive. Part of me says: "Why not setup a dual-boot with Bazzite?" Another part of me screams: "You whiny, insecure BEYOTCH! Rip the damned Band-Aid off and get on with it and go full-on Linux with the build!" 🤬 Part of me says: "I think I need a hug..." More to follow...1 point

I got this fixed. I had also installed GameEx (when I was having exit key problems I tried GameEx, but never set it up. I deleted it for the sake of not having something else conflicting with PinballX. I reinstalled 6.95 (it's what I had on the desktop) and that did it. I think it was the reinstall that did it, not Game Ex. But, I wanted to make sure I didn't have 2 things fighting each other to read an xml- stranger things have happened... Thanks guys. 😀1 point

I think only system_1 (MAME) is enabled so C:\PinballX\Databases\MAME.xml is the suspect. If you add games manually to the xml you might have made an error, so switch to a backup and try that (if you have one), or attach a copy of the suspect MAME.xml here (i can try and load it in PinballX to confirm if it is the issue)1 point

From some of the YouTube chatter, we can probably expect similar performance curves as we did with consoles vs. PCs - not the ultimate, but still pretty damned good. Since they can flex their experience with Steam Deck, I fully expect that it will be successful. I am waiting to see the pricing as It may be something I consider for the living room next year. Now where did I put that original Steam controller I bought and never used? 😵💫1 point

I think it will do very well, that’s unless it’s severely underpowered.1 point
-
Right but from a gamer consumer standpoint it's a console that will run out of the box. For the PC builders (meaning us) it's under-powered. But then, to us, so is an XBox or PlayStation. I may get one on the used market to check it out. I do have a Deck after all. I'm not immune to the charms dammit!! My opinion is it will have a good sales run considering the target audience and STEAM(!!!!!1!1!1!1111). 🤣1 point

Speaking about "dark side" powers, the following is a screen cap from my phone yesterday when I opened a new Chrome tab and these two articles were stacked in the order below: All I can say is, "Damn, Ahsoka! Close the door when you need to potty - and light a match when you are done, 'cause dayum!"1 point

What Draco is trying to say is we need more diagnostic data to fix. Thanks.1 point

Hi all, I’ve put together a cleaned and updated XML file for Zaccaria Pinball, based on the naming structure originally compiled by @joyrider3774. His excellent work laid the foundation (he really need to explain how he get all the correct table names ) I’ve simply tried to ensure consistency across all 168 tables, including the POSTAL packs and newer Magic Pixel releases. Each pinball table in the XML includes a type field, which traditionally reflects the hardware generation of the original machine. In most cases, this is either: EM – Electro-mechanical: Tables from the 1970s with mechanical scoring reels, bells, and relays. SS – Solid-state: Later Zaccaria machines from the 1980s with digital displays and electronic sound boards. However, since Magic Pixel has introduced multiple digital reinterpretations and original creations, we’ve expanded the type field to better reflect the style or version of each table. This helps distinguish between physical recreations, stylized variants, and fantasy-themed originals. Here’s the full breakdown: type Meaning Description EM Electro-mechanical Original 1970s Zaccaria tables with mechanical scoring and chimes. SS Solid-state 1980s Zaccaria tables with electronic scoring and sound. RM Remake Faithful digital recreations of original Zaccaria tables. RT Retro Stylized retro versions with simplified visuals or gameplay. DX Deluxe Enhanced editions with modern graphics, lighting, and effects. AW Adventure/Wizard Original Magic Pixel fantasy tables, not based on real machines. The goal is to provide a reliable base for anyone integrating Zaccaria tables into their own frontend, launcher, or tooling. Original thread by @AndyMcDandy: guide zaccaria finally has direct table launch Steam guide reference by @joyrider3774: Steam Zaccaria Guide Feel free to use, adapt, or suggest improvements. I’ll keep it updated as needed. Download file : Zaccaria Pinball.xml1 point

The files are named to display the animations only for years ranges in the brackets, but can be renamed to display for all years if that is preferred. As always with these things keep the ones you want, delete what you don't!. To display the animations in PinballX make sure you're up to date and have Show Additional Detail enabled under General settings in Settings.exe. If you display company logos as wheel overlay images (Settings.exe->Generel Settings->Wheel Overlay Images option) the gif images will not display correctly in the wheel. Copy a static png logo image with same file/company name as the gif back to the company logos folder (that file will be used for the overlay, with the gif displayed in Additional Detail area), or disable the wheel overlay option. The animations need PinballX V4.84 or later to work. If the logo's aren't being used / picked up by PinballX please check your database table entry Manufacturer name, the company name should match the name of the file, if it doesn't change the name of file or update the manufacturer info for those table(s).1 point -
Thank you and no problem. it won't be for 10 days and its not because of the holidays. My code signing dongle is stuck in the wrong country!0 points

Notice from ByteDelight notice of webshop closure due to Ben Versteeg's (aka ByteDelight) passing December 19, 2025. Memorium on Facebook: In memoriam – Ben Versteeg (ByteDelight) Ben Versteeg, the person many in the ZX Spectrum community knew as the heart and hands behind ByteDelight, has sadly passed away. Ben was not just a hardware maker. He was a craftsman, a true enthusiast, and a member of the scene who quietly and consistently helped keep the ZX Spectrum alive - through his designs, his support, and his integrity. His devices, including DivMMC, are now part of countless ZX Spectrum systems around the world. They still work. They are still in use. And through them, his legacy lives on. What makes this loss even harder is that Ben was relatively young, and his passing came as a complete shock. The family has confirmed his death, but no public details about the cause have been shared, which we should respect. If you own his hardware - use it. If it sits in a display case - preserve it. These are small but meaningful ways to honour someone who gave so much to this community. Rest in peace, Ben. You will not be forgotten by the ZX Spectrum world.0 points
