The best fan made video

I wanted to share a fan made video with you that I think it really well done. The band never made a video for this song as far as I'm aware, so a fan took care of that.

Mr. Bungle - Pink Cigarette

Creepy but really well done.

A dedication to Gangsta's Paradise

I miss people dedicating songs over the radio. It doesn't really happen that much anymore.

The best radio dedication I ever made was Coolio's Gangsta's Paradise for my friend Brandy's birthday. You know, because we could really relate to that song being white pre-teens living in the burbs. We were so excited when they actually played it that we jumped up and down screaming all the words.

Gangsta's Paradise is now my go to karaoke song. Guaranteed crowd-pleaser.

Sneaky snake.

My boyfriend is a sneaky snake.

Whenever we meet up somewhere he somehow manages to sneak up behind me and scare me. I think he's getting better at it too. Yesterday I was walking towards where we were suppose to meet and he caught me before I even made it to the meeting spot.

My reaction is either "you scared the crap out of me!" or "you sneaky snake!" I have no idea where I got the term sneaky snake or why I use it without even thinking about it.

I probably shouldn't even write this blog post because he's going to read this and try to find new ways to sneak up on me. Next thing you know he'll be dropping down out of a tree. Please don't do that.

I'm going to move on here before I give my boyfriend any more ideas.

I think my ipod nano is dying. The battery won't hold a charge and I'm sad. I've had this nano for about 5 years and I don't want another one! I do have an iphone but I prefer keeping my music separate because I'm paranoid about draining the battery on my phone. I listen to music a lot.

Maybe my ipod is rebelling because I downloaded that One Direction song. I'm sorry ipod. I'm SORRY.

Tall people down in front. The Our Lady Peace show.

I usually don't go this long without blogging but things have been busy in the life of Ginny. I haven't been home much and when I am home I'm sucked into the Olympics and forget about the internet unless it's to stream something Olympic related.

It's not all Olympic watching though. Sunday I went to see Our Lady Peace at the Paradise in Boston. I dragged Derek along but I think he enjoyed and of course Germana came, since we have been fans since 7th grade.

The show was awesome. OLP are great live, which a blog reader had mentioned in a previous post. You did not let me down blog reader. I agree with you! They played most of their more popular songs which made me and the crowd very happy. No Automatic Flowers but their acoustic version of Thief was really beautiful. Apparently it was written about a girl they knew who died of a brain tumor.

" I can't see that thief that lives inside of your head, but I can be some courage at the side of your bed."

The venue is small so we were pretty close but our view was still a little obstructed. That's because all the tall people decide to get as close to the stage as possible. You're 6' tall, there is no need to stand in front of everyone so you can block their view. It wasn't even just one guy, it was multiple tall guys. If I was a tall person I would stand near the back so other people could see. You can see over heads. I  can't see through them. And, the venue is small, so it's not like you're going to be far away from the stage anyways.

*I guess I should clarify that I'm referring to tall people who shove their way ahead of people. If someone is there before me I won't stand behind them if they're tall. If you're not there on time stand behind me.*

Ok- short girl rant over. Go listen to Thief and try not to cry.

RIP #WFNX

Image

Boston's last alternative radio station is off the airwaves. FNX was bought out by Clear Channel, because we need another station that plays Katy Perry on repeat. I'm really sad about the loss of FNX and I know I'm not the only one. FNX was a really unique station that made me actually want to listen to radio.

I remember listening to the Sandbox every morning getting ready for work. I remember getting overly excited hearing a song on the radio that I never thought any station would play. I remember jumping up and down at the Orpheum to Franz Ferdinand at their yearly holiday concert. I have a lot of good memories with FNX.

RIP! Boston will miss you.

Runaway and join the Cirque-us

My poor body needs a break. I've been out living it up every night since Wednesday. I can't look at beer right now. There were no hangovers involved thankfully but I get sick of beer if I drink it too many nights in a row.

I went to see Cirque Du Soleil Totem on Saturday. It was pretty good. I've never been to a Cirque show before. I just wish the little kid behind us would have shut up. I'm sorry, but don't bring a 4 year old to Cirque if they're just going to ask questions the whole time. Neither parent told him to be quiet or at the very least whisper. Then when the unicycles came out the father had to launch into this story about his unicycle days. Are you kidding me? Now is the perfect time for that. I did my best to block it out. My favorite acts were the trapeze and the roller skaters. Anyone want to run away and join the circus with me? My act will be cartwheels or kitty snuggling. Or maybe both.

What else did I do this weekend. Well I ate Indian food, I drank tiny drinks and larger drinks. I smelled Charlie's nasty onion and chive martini thing and gagged. I went out in Allston aka hipsterville USA and yelled at the cats for knocking over the recycling in the middle of the night. Being a kitty mom is hard work.

I think I have my summer jam guys.

How is Gwen Stefanai in her 40s?! She looks amazing. Can't wait for the new No Doubt album.

I'm finally going to see Our Lady Peace

I don't know about you but I get really excited about seeing bands I love in concert. There's something about being there in person screaming the lyrics to your favorite songs alongside other people who get it.

One of my favorite albums is Clumsy by Our Lady Peace. It was pretty much the sound track to 7th grade. I still have that album on my ipod. I could have seen them once back in 1997 but you see my friend Melissa took my friend Brandy and Germana and I were pissed. We wanted to see Our Lady Peace too and we had to listen to Melissa and Brandy talk about how great they were in concert. Don't worry, we still talk today so I think we got over it. Now, 15 years later (gahhhh! that's a long time) we're finally going to see them in concert.

Too bad Germana and I got rid of our Jnco jeans.

Bring on the 90s rock! And they better play my favorite song.

#jesuschrist I like a Christian rock song and didn't even know it.

Amazon.com has free songs to download and I like to check them out because every once in a while there's a good one. I listened to the preview for this song called Alive by Avalon. Never heard of them but I kind of liked it so I downloaded that free shit yo. Now I'm walking down the street singing to myself "watch me as I come alllllliiiiiiivvvvvvvvveeeeeee!" and then on about the 10th listen I started to realize. Wait a second....I think this song is about Jesus. They're talking about souls and breathing again and Jesus is all about that. And what's the name of this album? Reborn. Enough said.

I googled the band and yep, turns out they are Christian Rock. I don't have a problem with Christian Rock. I mean I love Switchfoot and MXPX, I just don't like not knowing it's Christian Rock. I think the song means one thing and then just kidding this song is really about Jesus. Save your self and praise the lord! I just like to know from the get go what the song is really about.

I'm going to continue listening to Alive and maybe God will give me bonus points for liking this song. I'm going to share the song with you here and I'm sorry if you really like it like I do but at least you know it's about Jesus.

Cover me cause I'm changing lanes

Well the River freaked me out as I thought it would. I was doing pretty good until they got to the part in the jungle with all the dolls. I knew at some point one of the dolls was going to move and I was going to flip out. And flip out I did. I covered my eyes with my hands like I was eight yeas old. I'm also really disturbed by how often the characters just jump into the Amazon river like it's not big deal. Aren't there a million things that could kill you in that water? I've played Tomb Raider. I know all about this.

I got more birthday goodies in the mail. Germana got my a subscription to Birchbox. I got my first shipment today and loved all of the little goodies. I like how it's a surprise. This month was sort of a welcome package but I went online and filled out my profile (dry skin, vampire white, fine oily hair) so next month I should get more specific products. My favorites were the Jouer lip gloss and the Zoya nail polish in Kristen. I'm strongly considering buying the full size of the lip gloss. I can't wait to see what I get next month.

Image
My nails are really short right now. They keep breaking which is annoying. Well except for that thumb nail. That's the lone ranger that hasn't broken yet.

Bosco goes to the vet tomorrow for his pricey dental work. I'm really hoping that the bill is going to be what they told me but I'm preparing myself for it to be more. Good thing I had my kidneys checked out recently. I may need to sell one.

Before I head out to work I'm going to amp myself up with a little M.I.A. Totally digging this song right now. I have some amazing dancing moves to go along with it.

Mission Impossible: Boots protocal

The life of Ginny has been pretty boring this week. I have been searching for a new pair of boots and not finding anything I like. Well that's not true, I found a pair I like they are just too expensive.

Image
$198 made by Fossil. I don't want to spend that much money for boots but they're so pretty!

The other issue is that I need knew clothes. Not want, but need. My jeans and work pants are looking rough. I have about $200.00 on an American Express gift card so do I buy a pair of boots or buy clothing?

Please let me know what you think I should do in the comments because I can't decide.

Let's move on from my first world problems.

Two bloggers recently gave me awards: Sassy Pants and You Fancy Me Mad (formerly Hug in a Cup).

Sassy Pants is like my internet doppelganger. We are so much alike it's scary. If we ever meet the world might end. The Mayans have already predicted that. I love her blog and was very flattered that she gave me a shout out.

You Fancy Me Mad is a great blog to check out for movies, tv and music. We have very similar taste so I really enjoy her blog.

Ok, I'm almost done here. I just wanted to share with you this video of Michael Buble singing a duet on stage with a 15 year old named Sam.

"Holy shit balls mom!"

Happy Tuesday! Here's a little music for you.

I have been a huge fan of Ainjel Emme for years. I discovered her on a music thread on a very old (and now dead) message board called chick click. Someone posted about her, I listened and I loved her music immediately. Years later I'm still a fan and she is still putting out quality music.

Take a listen.

1997 Ginny is making a comeback

Oh God I'm turning into 1997 Ginny. The Ginny who listens to M2M, S Club 7, 5ive and B*Witched. Normally 1997 Ginny only comes out when she's drunk but now she's coming out totally sober!

If it was on the Disney Channel in the late 90s I was blasting it in my room and dancing around like young teens do. Please keep in mind that I think this is way better quality than the music currently being played on the Disney Channel. Do they still show music videos on the Disney Channel? I'm old and it's been a long time. All I know is I that Miley does not compare to M2M.

Bonnie, do you remember singing your little teenage heart out to this? Now you have babies and I work for a law firm. WTF right?

Play on player.

"I'm going to get Blackstreet to perform for you on your birthday!"

File under things I promise when I'm drunk.

#myjam Breathe Carolina - Blackout

I am crushing this song so hard right now. I will dance to this until my feet give out and then I will lay on the ground and roll around because I just can't stop. Dramatic?  Maybe but I just love this song.  It's safe to say that I think this is my favorite song of 2011.

Weekend adventures. Sun chips taste even better at 3 a.m.

So I think we paid some random person to drive us home Friday.  It was 3 a.m. and we were trying to catch a cab near Park Street for over an hour.  This guy rolls up in a really fancy black car and offers us a ride for $75.00.  Darryl talked him down to $30.00 and all five of us piled in.  We think he drove for a car service but he was not a taxi.  We were freezing and desperate.  I would never have done this if I wasn't with three other guys.

Dave and I saw Tower Heist yesterday.  It wasn't bad.  It took a little bit for the movie to get going but there were quite a few laughs.  Eddie Murphy is great in this movie and I agree with other reviews I've read that say some of the best parts are the interactions between Eddie Murphy and Matthew Broderick.

I have a birthday party to go to tonight so the weekend is not over yet.  Good thing I went to bed at 11 last night.  UPDATE:  Now staying home with tv and white chocolate Reese's.  It's a party up in here (in my mouth)!

I leave you with this video which is a song called Money by I Fight Dragons.  I love this song and have bounced around to this video too many times to keep track.

Doesn't anybody ever know?

Does anyone remember Our Lady Peace?  I loved that band something fierce back in Junior High.  Sometimes I really miss 90s music.

I dragged myself out of bed this morning to feed the cats thinking it was 6 a.m.  I had a feeling that they may be tricking me so I check the clock.  3 a.m.  Good one cats.  You are quite sneaky.

I believe the weather man just said that we may see some snow later this week.  Very much not a fan of this prediction.  Bees do not do well in the cold.  Costume will be worn no matter what.

I bought some baloney at the supermarket the other day and now I'm kicking myself for doing that.  So bad for you but it tastes so good!  I should stick to the turkey I bought but I don't want to waste perfectly good baloney.  Bosco suggests I give it to him.  No dice Bosco.  You're chubby enough as it is and the last thing I need is for you to acquire a baloney addiction.

If only all of life's problems were this easy.  To eat the baloney or not eat the baloney, that is the question.

Abandoned blogs of yore

Lately I've been coming across old blogs that haven't been updated for years.  The writer was blogging away and then one day just stopped.  I wonder how many blogs that I like reading now will end the same way.  It's sad to think about.  I'd like to think that I'll be blogging for years to come.  I can't see my motivation waning anytime soon.  I'm sure my four readers are very happy about this.

I recently found a really old livejournal of mine.  The name of the journal was lame.  I don't even know what I meant by it.  I've actually tried to figure out what was going on in my head and I have no idea how I came up with the name for that journal.  I used the journal to vent when I was going through a really rough time health wise and I left that journal and moved on to a different livejournal with an equally lame name.  I've kept those journals up to remind me of my teenage/early 20s angst.  I can't even delete the horribly angsty one if I tried because I can't remember my password or the e-mail I used to sign up for that thing.  One more reason why I can never run for president.

I use to read Ari Goes Down back in the day.  I wonder if she's still blogging because I loved her blog.  If anyone knows please fill me in.*

Everywhere I go I keep hearing If I Die Young by The Band Perry and for a while I thought it was Taylor Swift.  Turns out they just have similar voices and similar hair.  So now I'm kind of obsessed with this song and I really don't want to be.  I also get really emo when I watch this video.  I can't think about the meaning of the song.  Thanks a lot The Band Perry.  I really think you should drop "the band" and just go by Perry.  Otherwise I will start going by the human Virginia.

*I totally found her new blog because I am an internet super sleuth!!!!!!
