Additional context

**The model is super old and pretty much unmaintained anymore.** 
I just want to use it as a remote control for my digital camera. Wouldn't recommend using it as daily driver.

I don't know if "device code" and "model" is filled in correctly. I'm on the immutable Fedora version, so maybe the "/system/bin/sh: grep" is not found on my system due to the symlinks? I don't know, I'm no programmer sadly.

You're right, the model is not filled correctly, it's a bug...
Which Fedora version do you use (Silverblue 39?)
How did you installed OpenAndroidInstaller? With flatpak?

These older phones can be pretty hard to support, but it would be part of the goal of the project.
There has been a discussion on another old Samsung device (#67) earlier, which I haven't been able to resolve yet...

Actually from this guide https://www.usp-forum.de/threads/samsung-galaxy-s3-mini-i8190-lineage-14-1-android-7-1-2-installieren.136119/ (in German), I would say it should be a smooth experience for the device and it should be straight forward to add support for the device. Most of the issues with older devices only come to play if you want to flash more recent android versions which need larger boot partitions, so you need to repartition which is a pain :D

Hey! I've successfully flashed Lineage onto the said device.
As I'm pretty new into using GitHub, I've dipped into making my first repository and wrote a guide on how I flashed it successfully that way.
I used the "traditional" and painful method of Heimdall, TWRP and adb.

Please refer to the links in my guide, as the ones I tested from this open issue didn't work and resulted in errors.
The ones in the repo are compatible with each other and work as intended.
They should also be the newest images available with Android 7.1 😃

I'm actually super proud of myself about the successful installation! It was a lot of super frustrating fiddling and trying, but in the end, it worked.
I actually enjoy using this phone right now, which I never would have thought! 😁

If it isn't because of the phone, but due to the "immutability" of my OS, I will open another issue. This would separate the "add support for the phone" and "error on my OS" better.

Version 39.
I use the ´kinoite-main´ image from universal-blue.org. But I don't think it should matter much, since under the hood, they're all pretty much the same imo. No matter if I use the official Silverblue, Bazzite from uBlue, or whatever.

I used the Flatpak version of OAI.

I'm absolutely no expert, but I could imagine that the error was due to the symlinks Fedora Atomic uses. I believe there should be a /var/.../ somewhere in the path of /system/bin/sh: grep

As I've written in the other comment, I got the custom ROM working with the "traditional" method. I hope the guide I've written on my repo helps you and makes all those painful steps redundand :)

I don't have any Samsung devices, and the installation process is a bit different from Xiaomi devices (I do own some), so I prefer not to dive into it... But it can help others contributors a lot, or you can also try to make the config file for this device!
