FIRST DAY OF 2007, 新年的第一天

Image
Image
Time really passes so fast. Just a clip of eyes, another new year begin. Well, this shows that 'time' wait for no one and if we do not use it to the fullest, another day will just passing by. What to do? We are unable to go back to the point which were passed but have to look forward and improve ourselves further so that we are of value in our lifetime. Past events were or were not in our favour, but they definitely were lessons that we experienced through our own self.

Also, to my friends who lost their 'Watson' a few days ago, recall and recollect the happy moments that you had with Watson. Nothing is permanent in this world, we believe there is life after death.

Happy New Year to all of you.

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL, WHEREVER U ARE

Just couldn't sleep well and decided to post my thought before it slips my mind. Just imagine if all of us are of the same 'faith', what will happen? Will the world be more peaceful and a better place to live at?

I don't think so. In fact, the world will be a dull place to stay, everyone of us will be celebrating the same festivals. Life will thus become more 'monotonous' than what we are having now. With different faiths, there are Christmas, Chinese New Year, Hari Raya, Deepavali and so on and get more holidays, hehe.

So, why bother what faith a person belong to so long as he / she is no harm to you and me? We can still be friends / relatives even we are of different faiths. So, why wasting time fighting over religious issue? For now, let celebrate Christmas. Merry Christmas to all, wherever you are.

Posted here are some photos of my recent trip to Penang and detour to Teluk Intan (formerly Teluk Anson during colonial days). One of them is photo of 'leaning clock tower of Teluk Intan. I was told this tower was built by a Chinese businessman in honour of his beloved wife.

中秋晚会

Image

The recent problems had resulted I being spending less time with my kids. So, in conjuction with Mid-Autumn Festival celebration of my son's school, I decided to hand made a Chinese lantern for him to participate in the celebration.

Well, during my childhood, I do not have the luxury to own a lantern. So, I used empty aluminium can to make a lantern for myself. This lantern may not be as beautiful as those selling in the market, but to my kids, it is the best. I sincerely hope they have a memorable and happy childhood.

WESAK & MOTHERS' DAYS

Image
Image
ImageImageImage
Last Friday was Wesak Day and today is Mothers' Day. Gary's Garden was having an outing to Tanjung Harapan, North Port Klang to celebrate Mothers' Day on Wesak Day, ie 12 May, 2006. Well, a lot of people heard of Tanjung Harapan but do not know the way there. Here we post a road map for your convenience.

To us, Mothers' Day is as great as Wesak Day, that is to say all mothers are as great as Buddha. They are all about love, however simple they maybe. Their love is as pure as the water hycinth posted here.

To all children of the world, welcome you to put a word of praise to our mother here.

CHINESE NEW YEAR .VALENTINE.TRAFFIC JAMS

Image

The month of January and February 2006 was an eventful one. Chinese of the world was celebrating the most important festival of a Lunar calender. It marks the begining of a year. The celebration starts with a reunion dinner among family members in the eve of the first day of Chinese New Year.

Celebration of the festival becomes more hectic nowadays as the young ones need to go back to their parents' home and thereafter to the in-laws'. The distance involved easily totalled up at least 500km. This makes me think whether is it worth the trouble to travel up and down just to attend the reunion dinner and meet up with relatives and friends. Can't we think of other ways to celebrate the festival in a more relax and enjoyable mood? Just imagine the traffic congestion that occurred during the rush hours, it really spoils the mood of celebrating Chinese New Year.

The 2006 Chinese New Year ends with Valentine Day on the 14th February. Again, traffic jam in Kuala Lumpur somehow spoilt the mood again. Perhap the authorities should think in depth to solve the traffic congestion problem, especially in Kuala Lumpur.

Well, the consolation to all these bad mood were that I had the chance to see some rare wildlifes with my own eyes during travels and that my valentine really appreciates the roses that I offered.

Merry Christmas

Image
Today is a special day to the world at large and specifically for people of Christian faith. Gary's Garden wish you Merry Christmas and may God blessed us with good health and happiness. A friend of mine sent me this photo to share his joy with us. I am sure he is excited to celebrate this festival with his family and his enlarged family and friends worldwide. Although we are not celebrating Chirstmas together physically, the goodwill in celebrating this auspicious day prevails. Gary's Garden believes such kind of goodwill will bring ultimate peace to the world.

Chinese Hokkien Bak Chang

Image
Image
These are Chinese Hokkien Bak Chang or dumplings wrapped with bamboo leaves just out from Gary's Garden kitchen. Thanks to my blogger friend http://preciousmoments2.blogspot.com who leads my wife over to interesting blogs sharing recipes of various chinese cookings. This is the first attempt by my wife in making Bak Chang. I am very proud and satisfied with her achievement.

The ancient story for this Bak Chang was related to a well-loved patriot in China who committed suicide by jumping into a river. The Chinese wish to offer this patriot with food but worried that the food offered my be eaten by fish, so, they taught of a way by wrapping the glutinous rice with bamboo leaves and threw into river as offering for this patriot. The Chinese will celebrate the Bak Chang Festival in a day (I don't know the date) of Lunar calender, but this tradition is slowly forgotten among Chinese.

Malay Architecture

Image
Image
These are the replica of a typical Malay house and ponduk (i.e. hut). They can be found in a Malay Kampung (Malay village). The architecture reflects simplicity, friendliness and elegance of the Malays who usually hold 'open house' party to invite friends of all races and faiths to their houses during Hari Raya celebration. The open house concept somehow is adopted by all other Malaysian during their Chinese New Year, Christmas, Deepavali, Harvest Day and so on.

SELAMAT HARI RAYA

Image
Image

Image
Today is the first day of Hari Raya celebration for all Muslim in the world. After one month of fasting, all Muslim start to celebrate this important event in Muslim calendar. In Malaysia, festival like Hari Raya is celebrated by not just Muslim, but with peoples of all faiths. Perhaps, you can find this festival is celebrated within a Malaysian family which consists of different faiths. This shows the importance of ‘blood relationship’ which bind a family together. We Malaysian are proud in this and just wonder why this can happen in Malaysia (and more interestingly, in a family) but not in some other places. Gary’s Garden believes peoples of all faiths can co-exist as we believe all living creatures have their rights to live in this world. So, why bother what religion he or she adopts? More important thing to do is to live happily in this world, right?

Gary's Garden wish to post a few flowers to reflect the diversity of Malaysian of all faiths and races.

Babies in action

Image
Babies in action, this remind me of the korean TV series, Jewel in the Palace 大长今) where the little girl parents have to gone through all difficulties to ensure safety of their child. Today, 1st of the ninth month of lunar calender (九月初一) which co-incide with the Festival of the Nine Emperors God (九皇爷诞辰), is my father's birthday. I wish him good health and life (寿比南山,富如东海).THOSE WHO WANT TO SEND BIRTHDAY GREETINGS TO MY DADDY, PLEASE DO SO. Posted by Picasa
