Close Call
This is what we woke up to find in our "guest parking". We had a pretty nasty winds come through that night and knock quite a few branches off our trees, but this was the biggest. The Lloyds were parked in this spot the entire day before, and if Danza wasn't on call had planned on spending the night. Wouldn't this have been a fun Christmas surprise to find on your car in the morning??

Empty Gate
Hopefully Russell doesn't figure out that there is nothing really holding him in our backyard anymore. The wind knocked over the gate and the lattice fell out of the middle. We keep opening and closing the gate like it is really doing something. The lattice is propped up next to the empty gate, maybe is it fooling Russell. Or maybe it is just too damn cold for Russell to try and run away.

Stork Parking
Look where I get to park now! I've always wanted to park there, but there are some seriously miserable looking soon-to-be-mommies at Babies R Us. Now that I've been pregnant for 30 something weeks, I feel that I have earned my new parking spot! If only I could talk the mall into getting these spots....

Indy Shower
The morning did not start off promising as my mom and I traveled to Terre Haute to get our hair done and pick up Grandma Chappy for the shower. The roads were fine when we left Indy, but just before we hit Brazil things took a turn for the worse. The entire interstate was covered with black ice and cars were sliding off all over the road. Grandma Ann was a hot mess worrying about her grandbaby in the womb, and her daughter carrying the grandbaby had no coat on that day (lay off me, coats don't fit anymore!) We made it to Terre Haute about 45 minutes late, but at least we made it. We got our hair did, got our Granny, and headed back for the shower. We were only 30 minutes late for the shower which was amazing, considering our trip to the Haute took 3 times as long as usual. Once we arrived at the shower, everything was perfect!

Seriously, I love cake.
Diane and Ken.
Cutest diaper cake ever. Inside each layer were diapers, sleepers, wash clothes, all kinds of baby goodies! Thanks Marie!!!

Childbirth Class #2
We made it through our second birth class. Ken had to watch the birthing video and he did very well, especially compared to the other guys in the class. He didn't pass out, vomit, or even flinch. I haven't come to the "freak out" point yet, but I can't imagine it is too far away. It is really starting to set in that there is really a baby inside of me and he is really going to have to come out. It is amazing to think that he could function on his own right now if he decided to come early. I am still going to hold out hope that in 6 weeks the stork is going to drop off our little man all bundled up and warm. This is how Ken imagines the birth day happening (this comes directly from an e-mail he sent earlier in the week)...
"Ideally, the day will go as follows:
- I come home from work on Tuesday at 5.
- Have cake and celebrate Jess's birthday.
- We watch O'Bama's inaguration
- Open Jess's presents
- Jess is so thrilled with the present I gave her, it starts labor
- We finish eating cake and head to the hospital
- Relax for a bit in the room till Jess is ready
- Little PC is born
- We eat more cake to celebrate his birthday"
WSA Holiday Cheer!
Thursday night Ken had his office holiday party at Fogo de Chao downtown. (Rae and Kevin... earmuffs please) Apparently at a Brazilian steakhouse they just carry around giant hunks of meat and carve off a piece if you want that particular item they are carrying around. We ate at least 10 different meats and each was delicious. Ken ate probably 30 fried bananas. We all left full of meat bellies. Seriously, best meal ever. This is not the best picture, but it might be the biggest Ken has ever smiled in his entire life.

Showered at Work!
The wonderful ladies at work (and Clint) had a fabulous fiesta of a baby shower for Baby Harrison! Between the fiesta pitch-in and a wagon full of goodies, it was pretty much the best night at work ever. It was sooo much more than I ever could have imagined. You guys are the best coworkers in the entire world!! I cannot tell you how lucky I feel to work with people that are so excited to meet Baby Harrison. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!! (Don't worry, this isn't your formal thank you card for the shower. I'm not that lame. Ha!)

This was my first baby shower at 1 in the morning.

Putting all Baby H's wonderful presents on display.

Shower in the Haute
We had our first baby shower this weekend in Terre Haute. It was great to have the shower over Thanksgiving weekend because we got to see some out of town family that we don't get to see very often. The shower was fab and the food was awesome! We love the family. Thanks everyone!!!! (We don't have a ton of pictures, we left our camera in Corydon over Thanksgiving. These are just some pictures that we have gotten from other people.)

One of the shower games involved everyone making their version of what Baby Harrison would look like out of Play Dough. After everyone was done, I had to chose a winner based on which Play Dough baby I thought Baby H would look the most like.

Guess who's baby won.... Ken! I would have to say it isn't completely fair though, Baby H is half Ken. (If you click on the picture, you can see Ken's Baby Harrison and his giant melon)

Busy Bees
My mom and Ken dedicated all day Saturday and part of Sunday afternoon getting the baby room painted and ready for decorating. The room is now spackled, painted, the floors have been scrubbed, and the furniture is in it's place!! This would have easily taken just Ken and I a month to complete. It may surprise you to learn that I have been a mental case lately and am not a very good "helper buddy" for Ken and his house projects. He mostly assigns me little tasks to be completed alone. And those are mostly just tasks to keep me busy so I'm not in his business... me being pregnant has been awesome for Ken!!

Russell was angry his usual sunning spot was taken over with paint supplies. He made it work though.

Childbirth Class round one
We went to our first Childbirth Prep class on Friday.
Yes, we are scheduled to take classes on Thursday nights, let me explain.... I was having a funky day and not feeling the best so I took a nap at 5pm knowing the Ken would be home in about half an hour to wake me up for our 7pm class. I don't hear Ken come in and he proceeds to complete some man project down in the basement. He wakes me up at 7 to ask if I was hungry. At this point I lose it and start crying because we missed our class and wasted 50 bucks... blah, blah... usual hormonal freak out routine ensues. After I became sane again, we just accepted that the class was gone and we would really have to beef up our baby book reading.
The next day the birth class lady calls me and mentions that I missed the class. She told me that there was another class that night and we were welcome to come to that one instead!! We showed up nice and early for the class so we didn't look like slackers two days in a row. The class was just OK this first time. It was a lot of basics that I knew from reading/school, but I think Ken got a lot out of it. It did include a 10 minutes massage lesson, which I highly enjoyed. The next class includes the birthing video, so I might bring one of my barf bags for Ken.
PS- The picture above is a present that my mom gave me during my extreme vomit stage of pregnancy. Ken has since stolen it and "pregnant Jess" stays on his nightstand.

Hooray for 30!
To celebrate Jess being 30 weeks along, we had a quick dinner at the
fine establishment of Logan's. I usually have a strong stance against
eating where you throw your trash on the ground, but good deals were to
be had. I am a sucker for a deal.

Colts vs. Pats
Dan and Amanda took us to our annual Colts game last week. This was our first game in the new Lucas Oil Stadium.
This is Ken getting ready to play Kan Jam.

It was a beautiful day to be outside and the game happened to be a good one. It was close all the way through and it is always fun beating the Pats.

Then Ken decided to wear the KanJam and wanted to fight somebody while wearing it.

Colts vs Broncos
Hopefully our little guy likes football. He already has his Broncos and Colts jerseys ready to go!! (Ken is from Colorado for those that didn't know)
Side story- Jay Cutler beat my high school football team (when my brother played) in overtime at the 2000 state finals in the Dome. So you know I must really love Ken to allow my child to wear this jersey.
3rd Trimester
I am officially in my 3rd trimester!! Which also means I am 7 months pregnant, which freaks me out a little bit. After a quick doctor visit on Friday we have a couple of new pregnancy stats. I have gained a total of 1 pound over my pre-pregnancy weight. It was really the first time I was slightly thankful for my extreme case of the vomits early on. My uterus is measuring at 30 cms, which is just over the size of a soccer ball, and our little boy is over 14 1/2 inches long and weighs almost 3 pounds. He wiggles around a lot now, and I am feeling him move several times a day. He has also learned to kick hard enough that Ken can see and feel him too! We are getting really excited to meet him in January!!!

Baby's Room
We have finally started working on the baby's room. It is still a hot mess, but things are slowly coming together. The next major thing we need to do with the room is paint.

Putting together his crib.
ABC cards we will use for wall decorations. Each card is 8x10.
We have baskets for the bottom two rows of these shelves. I am currently working on basket liners. I am hoping that Baby Harrison's toys and books will stay neatly organized in this shelving unit. Babies and toddlers love organization... right??
When Ken was taking the old shelves out of the closet, he found this left behind by the previous owners. Yes, it is a pitchfork. And yes, I am really nervous that the nickname "Firemonster Harrison" may be true. Saturday, October 25, 2008
More IKEA goodness!
I have a real problem when we go to IKEA. I will basically measure the size of boxes in the store and see how much I can physically fit into the vehicle we drove that day. We got 3 dressers and some great randomness on this trip!! I really didn't think 3 dressers would fit in the back of the SUV, but they did :)

Pumpkin
I found the most glorious pumpkin at Kroger the other day and made Ken grab a grocery cart while I held onto the pumpkin. (What, I thought somebody would take it...) Ken assured me that squirrels don't eat pumpkins and I left it on our back porch to play with it later in the week. This is the disaster that I woke up to.

Ken's Lawn Cart
Ken convinced me that he really really really needed a lawn cart to pick up sticks from the driveway and help him with other manly tasks around the yard. (I have yet to see him use the cart... but that is another story) I thought the cart was dumb until I made a grocery run and didn't have a helper to get groceries inside. I loaded up the cart and wheeled it from the detached garage right up to the kitchen door. It brought my laziness to an all time high!!! And yes, I left the cart sitting right outside of the kitchen door when I was finished with it.

Random Elevator Lady
Getting in the elevators at work yesterday night, I noticed a seemingly nice lady staring at me. I smiled and pushed the button for my floor.
Random elevator lady, "Are you going to have your baby tonight?"
Me, "I hope not, I'm only 6 months pregnant."
Random elevator lady, "Ooooooh." (with a hint of "yikes")
I actually thought my outfit was quite sassy that evening, and far less of a muu-muu than I usually wear. So I put on the outfit again the next day and made Ken take my picture in it.

Yearbook Pictures
I stumbled upon the Yearbook Yourself website at work the other night and thought it was pretty funny. Basically you upload a picture of your head and the website pastes it on yearbook photos from 1950 and on. So on one of my 5 days off in a row, I decided to kill some time and play. I think we could have made some attractive couples over the decades! (Click on the pictures to see them bigger)
