The day finally came. Parker had his first day of school (daycare). We had been talking about going to school for thepast week, and talked about all the fun things he was going to do there. He was OK with the conversation about mom and dad go to work, and Parker would stay at school with his friends.

Of course, I was the one that had to drop him off Monday morning. Parker froze in the main lobby and started to get a little weepy. By the time I had him in his classroom (less than 2 minutes) he was already snotty and blotchy from crying, and I was getting sweaty from carrying a 30 lb crying toddler. The actual drop off was fairly quick, and his teacher took him from my arms after one big squeeze. I fought back tears as I finished up some paperwork in the main office, and didn't cry until I made it to the car. I got a McD's diet coke and cried the rest of the way home. His teacher left me a message saying he ONLY cried for 15 minutes after I left. 15 minutes?? Doesn't that seem like forever?? (yes nurse friends, I know that 15 minutes of crying isn't going to kill him) I had to stop myself about 10 times from getting back into the car and picking him up before noon.
When I picked him up at 3:30 he was playing
outside on a bike and seemed to be getting along pretty well. He saw me and said "Hi Mommy!" gave me a giant hug, then ran back to his bike. He was covered in yogurt, sweaty from playing outside, and happy as could be. Ken won the Parent of the Year Award and came home with a singing card, Elmo balloon, and markers.

I have a super cute video of him dancing to his card singing "Celebrate", but blogger is not being my friend.
