Reflecting on 2010

What a year 2010 was for our family! We had a year full of firsts and milestones.

Bailey completed her preschool years and started kindergarten just eleven days after her fifth birthday! She loves her teacher and is a wonderful student! She rides the school bus to Judd's office every day after school which has worked out perfectly. She also participated in Upward cheerleading for the first time. I had my doubts about how she would do, but she surprised us all. She is still doing cheers in her spare time! Bailey loves playing with Barbies, drawing/coloring/writing, and watching T.V. Her favorite shows in 2010 were Hannah Montana and iCarly...our little girl is growing up! She continues to be a picky eater. She thrives on helping...she helps her brother, cleans her room, and loves to "clean" our closets!

Campbell turned two this year. He changed from a baby to a little boy right before our very eyes. His vocabulary exploded this year. He LOVES to talk...ALL the time! Campbell can be very stubborn and tempermental, after all, he is two! He is an affectionate one though - always telling us "I love you" out of the blue. Unlike his sister, he is not a picky eater and will try most anything we give him. Campbell had an obsession with Elmo and Cookie Monster for the first half of the year, then moved on to Toy Story. Woody and Buzz are practically household names around here! Campbell's biggest milestone for the year was potty training! We are so proud of him and are thankful that the process was nearly painless!

I continued to teach fourth grade language arts in Katy ISD. Being a teacher, my years start in August and end in June, so in 2010 I actually worked at two different schools within the district. My new school is much closer to home which means more time with the family. I started teaching the Toddler (18 months - 3 years) Sunday School class at church which has been a blessing, especially since Campbell is in the class. I celebrated my last birthday of my twenties in 2010 - looking forward (I think) to turning the big 3-0 in 2011.

Judd continues to serve as the Youth Pastor at our church. The youth ministry is growing by leaps and bounds. It is exciting to see what God is doing there. Our church started a building project this year. We moved out of the church and into the Junior High School auditorium in September, which has made for some interesting arrangements. For example, the youth meet at a local coffee shop for Sunday School and on Wednesday nights. Judd has been able to balance all of that craziness with being ever-present to us at home. We are so thankful for his dedication to our family.

We are so blessed! Here's to 2011!

"God has given us these times of JOY." Psalm 81:4

Texas Bowl

Our Baylor Bears made it to a bowl game for the first time in sixteen years! Needless to say, Baylor fans were excited to cheer on their team in our home state against the Illinois Illini! Judd and I went to the game with our Baylor buddies, Dave and Joanne. Despite braving a torrential downpour and the fact that our Bears didn't play well at all, we had a great time!

A tradition at the Texas Bowl is for both bands to play "Deep in the Heart of Texas" before the game.

Although most people had already left, we stayed and supported our Bears until the very end. We had to sing "That Good Ole Baylor Line" post-game.

Roller Skating and Chuck E Cheese

After Christmas, Nonnie took all the cousins roller skating and to Chuck-E-Cheese! I can't even remember the last time I put on roller skates! As soon as we got there we saw a little girl with a "white thing" and decided we needed them too. It was basically PVC pipe on wheels that you can hold on to while you skate. It was pure genius and helpful to our crew of novice skaters. We proceeded to call them "white things" the whole time we were there!

Campbell did NOT want to put his skates on!

Nonnie even tried out the "white thing!"

Campbell finally put his skates on, but refused to use the white thing. I held his hand and we made it around the rink twice.

Christmas with the Cochrans

On Christmas Day we went to Judd's grandparent's house in Kaufman to celebrate with his extended family. We ate our traditional Christmas lunch of turkey and dressing, the kids opened gifts, then the adults did a Chinese gift exchange. There are eight kids among us now and they all had a great time! There was not a dull moment, therefore I didn't take many pictures!

Merry Christmas!

Christmas Eve & Christmas Morning with the Furnells

We spent the days leading up to Chrismtas with Maw-Maw and Pop in Garland. We ate our traditional-to-us Chrismtas Eve Mexican dinner of fajitas and tamales.

The whole family - next year we'll have one more!
