Bedtime is always a chore at our house. Tonight was no different. Both kids had gotten out of bed multiple times. Judd and I were at our wits' end so when Bailey got up and said she had to tell us something, Judd sternly told her to go back to bed. "But I have to tell Mom something very important," she claimed as she smiled from ear to ear. I doubted it was anything "important." It never is. For some reason I let her talk, hoping she would get it out and get back to bed. "I asked Jesus to come into my heart!" I stood corrected. It was probably the most important thing she would ever tell us. We immediately embraced her. She giggled and smiled. You could see pure joy in her eyes.
Judd and I sat down on our bed with Bailey (and Campbell too at this point) to talk about the decision she had made. She told us that she has done bad things and needs Jesus to come into her heart to live forever. She confirmed her belief that Jesus died on the cross and rose again. She said she knows Jesus is going to live in her heart forever and will love her when she's good and when she's bad. Judd and I truly believe that Bailey understands her need and love for Christ as much as her six-year-old mind can comprehend. It was surreal to see her excitement. She never stopped smiling! I pray she never loses that passion for Jesus!
