WARNING!

Leftist propagandist Sean Penn has openly called for the incarceration of Senator Ted Cruz and the Tea Party in general on the grounds of insanity.  What's next?  Action T4 or Showers and Ovens for us?  Here's a repost of a very important book review originally published in THE RESISTER.  If you haven't read it, you should.  Inside every Leftist is a Totalitarian screaming to get out.

The Ominous Parallels--The End of Freedom in America. Leonard Peikoff. New York: NAL Penguin, Inc., 1982. Library of Congress Catalog Card Number: 83-60247. ix + 316 pages plus references and index.. Soft cover $10.00.

This book asks: "What caused Nazi Germany?" Unlike lesser attempts to explain that blood bath, The Ominous Parallels answers: "The same philosophies that are prevalent in the United States of America." Dr. Peikoff argues convincingly that in both countries the intellectual, educational and political leadership share, explicitly or implicitly, the same core ideologies. These ideologies submit that reality is subjective--a malleable illusion; emotions are the proper guide to human action--especially the emotions of race and the tribe, which cannot be understood by outsiders; self-sacrifice for the sake of others should usurp a man's own desires--and the state must take any necessary action to ensure that sacrifice. These ideologies demand that "individual selfishness" does not obstruct the path of "the public interest."

From Part One, Chapter One: " 'To be a socialist,' says Goebbels, 'is to submit the I to the thou; socialism is sacrificing the individual to the whole.' By this definition, the Nazis practiced what they preached. They practiced it at home and then abroad. No one can claim that they did not sacrifice enough individuals."

The underlying theme in The Ominous Parallels is how philosophy shapes cultures, and reading this book, it is difficult to escape a feeling of hopeless dread; of being caught in racing floodwaters and swept madly toward a destruction you are helpless to prevent. Given the theme of this nation's descent into fascism, and Dr. Peikoff's uncompromising method of proving it, that is the proper effect.

The conclusion of The Ominous Parallels is not that we are helplessly destined to go to the same lengths down the same road as Germany. The conclusion is that it is time for us to choose whether or not we will; that if we fail to consciously decide, the decision will be made for us. Contrary to the bleating of irrationalists then or now, it is only a coherent philosophy of reason and individual rights which will give us the means to choose not to become our own slaughterhouse.

Dr. Peikoff shows that such a philosophy is not prevalent in the United States because, although this nation was unique in being founded on philosophic ideals (rather than arbitrary land-grabs and tribal warfare), it was ultimately lacking a coherent detailed formulation of those ideals, as well as the Aristotelian philosophers to create one. Independence from Europe was only won physically--not ideologically. "The land of poets and philosophers was brought down by its poets and philosophers," says Peikoff. The resulting bowel movement of docile Nazi sheep who obeyed their Fuhrer because they obeyed their philosophers could indeed be us, for their philosophers--their pragmatists and Kants, their Hegels and Marxes--are ours
by adoption.

We do have one trump card, "...the philosophical breach between the American people and the intellectuals." In Germany, the intellectuals and the people were united in ideology, feeling at home in their country and with each other. This, says Peikoff, is not yet the case in America. Peikoff's book will help to keep it that way.

What are your questions?

UPDATE 2035 CDT:

Another quote from THE RESISTER:

Humanity is not merely a physical condition, it is a state of mind. To be human is to be essentially rational and productive. The human mentality (or soul) looks upon the world, the land, the animals and plants, the natural forces, as things to be mastered for the benefit of himself and his posterity. On the other hand, the predator, or savage mentality does not seek to to master the world, but to be the master of men. The savage prefers not to sustain himself by his own effort, but to seize and consume the lives and property of others for material and spiritual sustenance. To the predator, justice consists of "getting away with it" -- those who rightfully resist the predator are to be punished or destroyed.

SPAM WARNING!

I just had my afternoon nap interrupted.  For someone in my present condition of being retired on disability it's somewhat like interrupting a sexual act.

I'm not happy about it.

At about 1600 CST my phone rang.  The voice sounded like a man who was speaking for the "Tea Party."  As I was a bit annoyed I interrupted the spiel and said, "get to the point."

It behaved like a computer program.  It did not understand anything I said.  It then followed the  "politely end the conversation" part of the program and hung up.

Frankly I was surprised.  I would have expected something like this from the mainstream GOP.  The original TEA PARTY followed the plan laid out in a book by Robert A. Heinlein:  TAKE BACK YOUR GOVERNMENT.  (My copy is in plain view at the moment.)  Following his program I would have expected an actual TEA PARTY activist to have been on the line.

I have actual experience in political fundraising.  During the period between my pizza delivery job and driving a cab I worked for two weeks raising funds for the Republican Party of Minnesota.  As rough as it can be on the fundraiser there is NO EXCUSE for treating the potential donor as just another sucker.

Insane Idea

Once upon a time ago when I was active in the Libertarian Party I decided to run for the opposite of progress in the Fifth Congressional district of Minnesota. The district at the time consisted solely of the City of Minneapolis and was locked up by the DFL Party* as a safe seat. Even though I could not turn in enough signatures to get on the ballot I did receive about twenty write in votes in that election.

This morning I thought: Why not try it again?

The current occupant of the seat is DFL member Keith Ellison, an open Muslim who made a show of taking the oath of office on President Jefferson's copy of the Koran. Which is akin to a Neo-Nazi taking the oath on Winston Churchill's copy of Mein Kampf. Furthermore the doctrine of Islam denies the validity of all real laws, including the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

So in moral effect the Fifth District seat is empty.

A run for Congress in a closed district is clearly a quixotic act but with the legitimacy issue who knows what will happen?**

And yes, I will accept the endorsement of the Tea Party.

* Democratic Farmer Labor Party. Yes, it's every bit as bad as it sounds.

** Possibly a Soviet lobotomy after which the Donks will use me as a martyr for gun control. Nothing is too insane for those who value power.

My Cup Of Tea

With the extortion scandal that has been exposed in the opposite of progress [LINK HERE] the time has come again to consider the founding of a separate political party.

The apparent fact of the matter is that the scandal fully immerses both parties in both houses of Congress. The prior emphasis of The Tea Party has been to reform the Republican Party. But with the unfolding extortion scandal it appears that The Rot has fully effected the Grumpy Old Party to the core. One component of the scandal has been the illegal payment of family members out of campaign contributions. Even Ron Paul of Texas has transferred money from contributors to his daughters.

The effort to reform the GOP was chosen in part because the historic performance of new parties was dismal. But with the clear signs of The Rot within the GOP it now appears that we may be best off by starting with an effectively clean sheet of paper. The Tea Party will have to become a full service political party.

The path to freedom and the restoration of proper government will be longer and harder but I don't see another choice.

Back To Thought

Okay. Back to politics:

The Tea Party is and always has been about four very simple things:

1) Smaller Government

2) Fiscal Responsibility

3) Personal Responsibility

4) The Constitution

On the other hand the total ideology of The Left can be absolutely reduced to one word:

Loot

Over the previous two centuries The Left has generated immense quantities of text and verbiage to conceal this fact. But when the results are exposed the true goal of The Left is revealed.

Looting as a mode of existence can only be practiced as long as there are victims to loot. Once the victims have isolated themselves from the looters, or have died off, the looters themselves must die off.

Of course The Left is fully aware of this and as a result have actively to maintain their hold on their victims. Even going as far to use deadly force on some victims to frighten the remainder into compliance.

But because the victims are themselves beings of definite limits even fear as control mechanism will fail as the victims reach their limit to produce. The system of the looters will absolutely fail. This has happened several times in recorded history but The Left refuses to understand the lesson.

A Spot Of Tea

I attended a Tea Party rally in downtown Minneapolis at noon today at the IRS Headquarters at 250 Marquette Avenue South. There about a hundred people in attendance and there was a bit of drizzle. Several people, especially those driving commercial vehicles honked and the drove by. Not everyone was happy to see the Tea Party. Some people were visibly hostile. One woman who walked by the rally had a look on her face that was like one would expect from a member of a royal family that had just stepped in a freshly laid pile of dung. She may have worked for the IRS.

Seriously, if the Democrats want to survive as a political party they must drop the partisan nonsense and take the lead on cleaning up the abuses of the Obama administration. If not, they will go down with him.

Oh, here's a previous piece I wrote on the Tea Party.

Brownshirts In Action

From Andrew Breitbart's Big Government site:

The Racine, Wisconsin Tea Party held a get-out-the-vote rally Saturday to energize conservatives for the final stretch of the upcoming election. Organizers for the rally arrived at the event venue to find hundreds of roofing nails spread across the parking lot where attendees were to park their cars.

It remains a mystery who left the nails in the parking lot, but it is just one more assault in a chain of attacks, likely incited by the left against Wisconsin conservatives who are openly expressing their views and gathering exercise their right to speak and assemble freely.

Such actions may be a surprise to certain members of the Church of Obamatology but they should not be a surprise to anyone who has read The Ominous Parallels by Leonard Peikoff.

We must remember that the goal of Obamatology is to clear the planet of the effects of Capitalism. That is the behavior of decent and rational persons. In other words, civilization.

Think of it as Marxism as usual.

Thought for the Day

If I attend a tea party (Probably the one at the state capitol on tax day) I think I'll make a sign that references both Ayn Rand and Wang Chung:

EVERYBODY SHRUG TONIGHT

What are your questions on this concept?

Thought for the Day

I just had an idea.

Instead of having a tea party on April 15th, our annual tax day, let us instead have a Grape Kool-Aid party. Firstly to acknowledge the intimate connection between the ruling Democratic Party and the People's Temple. Secondly to acknowledge that the ruling Democratic Party and the Federal Government is now headed by a messianic socialist who is now leading his party and our nation to destruction. And thirdly as an open invitation to the ruling Democratic Party to simply GO AWAY! PERMANENTLY!

Grape Kool-Aid can be served at Tax Day demonstrations. Alternatively, packets of Grape Kool-Aid can anonymously slipped under the windshield wipers of cars displaying Obama stickers or into the mail slots and mailboxes of homes that still display Obama yard signs. (I live next door to one.) Again as an invitation to go away.

What are your questions on this suggestion?
