6.0.2 Impressions

I waited to experience this patch a little before writing down my impressions.

1: Stat-SquishI like it. I actually feel stronger than I did before the patch.

But I think it should go further. A level squish. Make the ding mean something again!

I have said for a long time there could be a level squish as well because there are so many empty level between 1 and 60. 5 levels a zone no longer makes sense. Sure the 'ding' looks pretty, but it isn't progress and you don't get something new every level anymore.

2: Ability Pruning
I am very happy with this. Many old redundant Paladin abilities were removed. Before I had a macro to use my cooldowns (Avenging Wrath, Divine Favor and Guardian of Ancient Kings) at the same time. Now I only have Avenging Wrath instead (which is Divine Favor and old Avenging Wrath put together.)

Flash of Light was made useful to Holy again, while Holy Light was removed. Two heals I hadn't used in a while. Divine Light was renamed Holy Light, so everything is cool.

Overall I need to practice some more with the Holy Changes, but I like them!

On Retribution? I guess we don't have Inquisition to punch ever time it is about to wear off anymore. This is a positive change.

3: Storage
Wonderful, wonderful Storage Solutions! New Void Storage Tab! Reagent bank! Toy Box! My bags haven't been this empty in years! Wonderful. Just wonderful!

4: Pre WoD Events in Blasted Lands:
The new Blasted Lands quests were short and easy as expected, but it did make the Iron Horde look rather weak and not much of a threat to Azeroth. On the upside, it didn't have us running though Nethergarde Mines like the 54-60 Blasted Lands quests.

5: Pre WoD Event Upper Blackrock Spire:I ran old UBRS many times during Classic WoW. I am not the fan of the new UBRS. For the longest time I couldn't articulate why. Was it nostalgia?  The lack of loot? Lack of achievement?

At last I figured it out: It felt incomplete.

With the last two bosses locked off, every run ends in the Rend Room (like people abandoning the group doing the old For The Horde! quest in the Onyxia Chain). It feels like a loss, not a win.

TLDR - Liked gameplay & storage changes. 3 out of 5 Phoenix Insignias.

It was an insanely productive month. Finished my Gold Challenge Modes & reached Brawlers Guild to Rank 10. Also did the Tol Barad Meta, and Pandaria Dungeon Heroic Meta, all items not on the list, but welcome. Still need to do the extra bosses in Brawlers Guild.

However I did finish my Glory of the Cataclysm Raider & Emperor Shaohao reputations, which were on my bucket list.

I have been busy with Diablo III: Reaper of Souls the past two weeks, but I still attended the guild raids. The big news is that I've started attending the Normal Raids, not just the Flex Raids, with my guild, Frostwolves! After a couple of runs I beat my goal of 553 item level for holy! Now to push towards 566! I also now have my four set bonus.

I haven't killed Garrosh on Normal yet since that is done with two heals and not three. If my Ret spec was more viable I would be able to stay in the run. I need to research how to heal better in that fight as well.

The next Countdown to WoD update will be in four weeks, not two.

38 or less weeks 34 weeks to go until Warlords of Draenor and Diablo III: Reaper of Souls is out today.

Very significant jump in my item level having gotten my Flex Chest/Shoulder upgrades and also completing my Legendary Cloak Quests. Still short of 553 in my holy set. Will keep trying for better Neck as well as doing Ordos now. Proved myself as a decent damager in Proving Grounds, but haven't hit Gold in either category yet. I've managed to do over 100 days of Orgrimmar jewelcrafting dallies since my countdown to Warlords of Draenor began and finally got around to farming Ancient Guo-Lai Cache for both of the last Pandaria recipes.

Countdown to Warlords of Draenor (17 week update/36 weeks to go)

Announced today was the collectors edition. Said to come out "on or before" 20th of December. This isn't a release date, but if it was, that means I have 40 weeks to do stuff and this series 'Countdown to Warlords of Draenor' has been very premature. If it is the case I might drop to monthly updates instead of fortnightly.

This fortnight I finished off Shadowmourne questline and my Avenger of Hyjal Rep. Two slow burning projects now over, thanks to Azadelta, Owl and Lushen. Still collecting Titan Runestones for the Legendary Cloak quests. Item level only went up a single point this fortnight, but still edging closer to the finish line! I should do LFR more to finish up my cloak quest and obtain better armour for both my Holy and Ret sets.

No new gear this fortnight, but Valor upgrades have put me up a single item level. My long term goal I've had to finish off Glory of the Icecrown Raider (25 player) finally happened when Azadelta, Owl and Lushen did Been Waiting a Long Time for This (25 player) for me.

I saw half of wing 2 of Siege of Orgrimmar with the guild flex group. However little progress this week on raising my item level. I even forgot to hit need on a healing trinket that would have been an upgrade. On the good news I finished off Darkmoon Faire mounts and made some reasonable progress with the Shadowmourn Quest.

● Do Siege of Orgrimmar (Wing 1 or 4 completed)

Been a Month and a Half

It has been a Month and a Half since my last entry.

My hiatus began initially because of my minor cuts on my hands. This initial hiatus led me to realise that most of my content was about obtaining Achievement X. I had tried to make those posts informative by then explaining how I obtained that achievement. I'd mention my cool friends and some of their cool blogs. And only then in passing on how they helped me achieve an achievement.

My minor hiatus led me to realise I was just obtaining achievements every day to be able to post about them. I didn't have a healthy balance between blog and playing.

So I stopped posting all together.

Since Pandaria has been released, I've loved almost every moment. I have obtained many achievements and done many quests. Pet Battles are just so great! It is like the Pokémon MMO I've always wanted. Loved the two Pandarian Emissaries outside Brewfest giving the hint that they'll compete with the other breweries for Brewfest next year.

My next post? Well when I think up something to write I'll write it.
