what goes up must come down

we just realised that megan not only learnt how to climb up the sofa, she learnt how to climb down by herself!

we were trying to teach her how to climb down the sofa few months back and gave up after she shown no interest… and so, we always keep a watchful eye over her by preventing her climbing up the sofa…

until recently, she managed to climb up the sofa (without breaking a sweat) and hence, we keep getting her off the sofa whenever she climbed up… once she got so excited after climbing up the sofa, she crawled away from me and knocked her mouth on the arm-rest, and bled… it wasn’t serious thou…

and this evening, (1 week after she learnt how to climb up the sofa), when i fetched megan from the nanny, she get megan to show me how she climb down the sofa! i asked megan’s nanny if she trained megan to do so, she said she didn’t…

amazed, once i got home, i get megan to do a demonstration…

she really can wor… a little unsteady but she actually learnt it wor! i’m so proud of her…

 

i think she’s learning to walk soon… she is very efficient in pulling herself to standing position with the help of an object… and occasionally, hands off… recently her “daddy look, NO HAND” stunt hit her personal best record of 5 seconds…

what happened these few days?

wow... it had been quite some time since i last blogged... i guess lotsa readers may be disappointed, but... i guess most of my readers enjoyed the megan turning video since it was the last thingy i blogged... and since it was also one of the most viewed video in my youtube profile in just 5 days...

 

so, what happened these few days? hmmm... lazy lor... and tired lor... lets see what actually happened these few days...

 

last friday, the winners of the singapore blog awards was announced at the asia civilisations museum, which i didn't attend cuz i can't possibly go anywhere during weekdays except home to fetch megan with joelle... and i didn't win in my category... the results can be found in http://sgblogawards.omy.sg/, click it to view each category's winners. thou not able to win anything (kaoz, not even the phone...) but i did have my fair share of fun and get to know some interesting bloggers (not as in really know them personally thou)...

- miss geraldine, a young student in japan

- miss zoe-anne, another young student in s'pore

- mr darren, a young malaysian working in singapore

- mr abaoo, another young malaysian working in malaysia...

obviously, the difference between me and them, i'm older... and the similarities? we didn't win in the omy blog awards... keke... alright, i'm really bo liao... but glad to come across such interesting people... :)

 

and... we finally fixed up a 摇篮 for megan on sat... and my dad came over to help drill the hook thingy up the ceiling, and we both got really dusted from the falling dust... 'cough cough'... and when its done, ta daa! megan's first 摇篮...

and its so comfy for her that, she slept soundly for 3 hours straight on a hot sat afternoon...

 

and sat nite, i'm leaving the girls (joelle and megan) behind at mil's place, and go for shiwei's bachelor nite! ever know whats the thing about bachelor nite? the married ones are always more excited than the marrying one!!! haha!!! sat morning i called shiwei to confirm the time but he said cannot make it liao... disappointed of course, but can't force him mah... and when the rest of the gangs are informed, shiwei is being bombarded and in the end, we got our nite out! (not that we like to party but visas are hard to get nowadays leh)... and we had a fun filled nite out with shiwei puking all the way... we took lotsa pictures of him, and of course, i promised him i wouldn't post it in my bloggie... but i didn't promise him not to tell my readers how to look for the pictures thou... since our PM is doing it, we already posted his puking pictures on facebook, 'LIVE' that nite! as part of my promise, it's not posted on my facebook, but i'm not breaking any promises by saying that the pictures are in my friend's facebook... and i got to send shiwei home that nite, morning actually at 3am... and since his place is near mine, i walked home... a crazy 30 minutes walk... in a semi-tipsy mind... reached home, showered, drop dead on bed... (joelle and megan stayed overnight at mil's place)... and shiwei called me at 8am...

sw "oei, jianfu"

me "si mi sai?"

sw "在睡觉啊?"

me "aba then? 什么事?"

sw "oh, thank you, send 我回家, 打来看你有没有到家咯"

me "NB, 4 个钟头才打来问, 会不会太迟了? ling bei ai koon lah, bye bye..."

and after that, joelle's back home with megan and we went over to my parent's place for lunchie... and from then on, i fall dead sick with headache and fever... was sleeping at my parent's place on a hot afternoon shivering with cold... my mum looked at me and told joelle "天气那么热, 还冷到这样, bo ho say liao..."

and indeed, reached home in the evening, and slept thru-out the nite, skipping dinner...

 

and this morning, woke up, recovered! thanks to joelle's 细心照顾... thanks dear, for the pills, and water... and for sticking megan's cooling forehead thingy on me... thinking back, i do look idiotic with that sticker pad thingy on my forehead... no wonder i woke up midnight to find megan looking at me, laughing... really, she isn't just smiling, she was looking a me and laughing loudly... and i got to turn the other side then only she settled down to sleep... kaoz...

 

and my little angel, looking as sweet as ever... ending this post with these few photos taken this evening.

 

 

提神补气消除疲劳

try repeat the title 10 times, and say it faster... haha... oh well, today joelle finally cannot take it liao... she have been working the early morning shift for 3 days and this morning, she got to take a day mc to stay home to rest... poor baby...

and since joelle is at home, she decided to cook dinner, and its 药材鸡! and the 药材 she bought is meant for 提神补气消除疲劳... and so the title lor...

looking back at previous posts, all didn't have megan's photo wor... mainly because we were tired, so we just play with megan and didn't take any photo... oh ya, our water boiler finally gave in and tripped the whole house... i guess its gone case liao... cw said dun use water boiler, cuz its no good to boil and reboil water over and over again... should get a thermo-flask instead... and he recommended 老虎大象牌... and i know what he is talking about wor... do you?

fetched megan from the baby sitter and since joelle setting up our dinner, its time for...

 

snap snap snap!

 

i realised, megan loved to watch me eating peanuts... dun know why also... pass her one peanut to grab... hee... she still haven't learn how to pick small objects yet... one of the milestone to achieve during her 10th month is to use her thumb and any fingers to pick up small objects... so in this case, she isn't really using her thumb thou... :P

and finally, the long awaited 药材鸡! joelle had been brewing it for 2 hours! looks yummy!

 

oh well, the master at work here... very serious work in progress!

and... a better presentation of the 药材鸡... come on, repeat after me, 提神补气消除疲劳!!!

and it taste as good as it looks... 好幸福哦~~~

in the end, it seems like its megan who got 提神补气消除疲劳 instead... she is so active and energetic... ghee, 小木瓜的衣服好象越来越小件了...

 

and me, feeling extremely tired and sleepy after the hearty dinner... 体魄大不如前... and joelle counted 5 white hairs on me!!! Ahhhh!!!!! but then, seriously, no matter how tired and frustrated at work, reached home, saw her, everything ok le... :P

more toys...

took on the nite shift last nite... and it completely drained me... dun know why so the tired last nite... knocked out after i blogged and woke up at 2am to feed megan... then couldn't sleep, on the computer and saw joelle's email about the baby massage thingy and so blogged about it and then sleep...

this morning totally couldn't wake up... but still managed to climb out of the comfy bed, showered and fall back on the sofa watching the morning news... little one was on her pinky chair... as usual, when we made eye contact, i'll say "yes darling?"... and megan will smile and look away shyly... then look back at me again, and i'll "yes darling?" and it goes on... now i wonder, me and joelle are not those morning people, but how come megan is wor??

megan however, inherited our bad temper... angry when hungry (joelle's) and angry when not allowed to sleep (me)... anyway, had a bzbz day, but manageable thou... fetched megan, and played with her for a while, had dinner, and delivered my 800th kiss for the day to megan (ok, i'm exaggerating), and now she is sleeping le...

everyday is so routine, but my happiest and favourite time of the day, is to be with megan and joelle... sometimes both of us can just sit on our bed watching megan sleeping in her cot... then look and smile at each other, feeling so proud and happy with ourselves... :P

oh ya, didn't we just tabulated our expenses for megan last nite? and today got new items to be added to a new page for the next 30 days of expenditure... more more toys for megan... this time, its an interactive story book thingy...

that has different inter-changeable 'books'... all for a price tag of around $100... which is considered 'cheap' cuz amazon selling at a 'discount' price of £60 ($161)...

 

ghee, i think i better give up the idea of buying myself a new mobile le... or maybe if i can win that LG phone also not bad wor... continue to vote for me wor... closing date 31st July... 谢了!

my guilt

小木瓜还挺受欢迎的哦... posted her photo to omy website and now she got 202 views wor...

可爱归可爱, little one seems really smart nowadays. and being smart, means she begin to develop preference... sometimes, she would prefer to be carry like this, sometimes she prefer to wait and carried a while before being fed, sometimes she like to sleep on her pink chair, sometimes she prefer her cot... and if things not done her way, wail wail wail....

this morning, when we were on our way to the baby sitter's place, megan suddenly cried. and so, i carried her instead... and guess what? one of her hands, grabbed my shirt tightly... she never did that to me before, she only did that to other people cuz she is scared of falling... and with me carrying her, she is always looking so comfy and relax, but not today... i'm thinking to myself "she dun want to go to her baby sitter's place??"

and when we were reaching baby sitter's place, megan already felt so relax in my arms that she forgotten about it and let go of my shirt... i quickly passed megan to her baby sitter and off we go.... not really go thou, cuz i'm a little worried, so we stood outside for a while... and my fears were confirmed, we heard megan crying from the house... we went back, asking megan's baby sitter if she need help, she said no need and waved us to go... we should really trust the expert lah... afterall, she had 3 kids of her own and had been baby sitter before...

but i'm still worrying thou... joelle reassured me that babies are like that one... and she mentioned, maybe i didn't stayed home with megan alone for a long period of time, cuz during joelle's ML, she had to bear with megan's crying when making milk for megan or preparing to bath megan... anyway, joelle called back when we reached bugis and confirmed megan is settled down... (i'm still worrying about megan the whole day thou... dun know why...)

somewhat, i'm still very guilty to leave megan with joelle's brother and sister last sat... not that i don't trust them (btw, joelle's brother and sister are already parents themselves lor), just that, i really feel bad lor... i should have waited for joelle to return from her OT before i go off to work... but then again, if i keep pamper and protect megan, she will never grow or learn... aiya, dun know lah...

last nite, took this pict of megan's foot clapped together... so funny...

my goodness... i realised i kept having typo error... must be the medicine i took for my cough and runny nose... yup, 我生病了... i'm really drowsy now..... i got, to , sleep.., an.d  , dun froget ot vote for mee ah...zzzzz....

ferber or sears?

last nite, while working, joelle called me saying she and megan already reached home... they were supposed to spend the nite at joelle's mum place but somehow, megan just cry and cry and cry... it seems like she is recognising place and people... and so, joelle LL got to bring megan back home... and maybe she cried too much, and now, she woke up crying, as if still recalling her crying ordeal... haiz, tot her cough recovering and i can get back my sleep but now.... dun know how long she need to get over it liao...

now, back to the question, did i carry megan too much? i checked the web, and it says nothing about carrying baby too much, and its old wives' tales... baby this age, should be shown lotsa love, and not leaving there like nobody's child... ok, maybe i overdo it liao, now got to let megan cry it out a bit, before carrying her...

now i'm stuck with the 2 schools of thoughts... should i go for the ferber (cry-it-out) method or sears (no tears) method? 好难做决定哦... 还是暂时别想这个, 花一点时间呼吁呼吁一下... vote for me oh... keke

just now, while on train back home with joelle, we were talking the blog awards thingy... i tell her, if we win the notebook, she can use the notebook and start her own bloggie... joelle jokingly say must think of a blog title for her first... and so, i told her the list of ideas...

don't poke your nose or else get your nose poked...

last nite, after her nite feed, megan was hit by the 连环-cough attack... and cough until very breathless. gotten us so worried and decided to rush her to hospital... we called up thomson and kk and found that they only have GP and not PD at this wee hours (3am...). and so, while calling the hospitals and finding out the doctors they had, megan kinda settled down and slept... we decided to let her sleep on her pinky chair at the living room that is more spacious... and so, the poor us, slept on the sofa... thank god 当初 sofa 买够大...

as joelle is also down with flu, she slept on and i kept watch... looking at my 2 sick darlings, felt so sad... didn't sleep a wink until 5am and i knocked out... and so, this morning, joelle on mc and i'm on urgent leave... called up thomson medical centre and wanna book for this famous PD, doc ong ek... but his schedule was fully booked lor... early morning when the clinic opens at 9am and he is already fully booked with walk-ins...

and so, we settled for the PD who was assigned to megan when she was born... he is not bad lah, very patient and looking a little sleepy thou... and speaks very slow and softly... while on cabby, joelle said later i better get my ears as close to the doc's mouth as possible... haha... the little one, enjoying car ride as usual...

when we reached tmc, megan already fast asleep... poor little one, couldn't sleep well also...

and when she woke up... she just love to melt her daddy...

lotsa people say, i'm spoiling megan... i know i shouldn't, but i really can't help it...

i mean, how can i resist her, when she keep smiling at me like that?

after seeing megan's PD, she is diagnosed to be infected by the flu virus... in fact, all the kids at the clinic were either sneezing or coughing... i guess its that peak season for flu again... anyway, that PD we went previously at CCK only gave megan medicine to ease her uncomfy-ness... this time, megan is getting anti-biotics... and was sent to the treatment room to clear her mucus from her nose and throat... while laying there waiting for the nurse to prepare, the unwary megan seems curious and wanna play with the nurse...

as the title goes, don't poke your nose or else get your nose poked... once again, i'm tasked to hold on to megan while the nurse do the poking... and megan, screamed in pain...

then the right...

just when we tot its over... the poking starts all over again... megan's ordeal lasts about 10 minutes... i was this close, this very close to stop the nurse but has to let the nurse to continue, cuz it does more good than harm to megan... deep deep inside... i'm... broken~~~

when everything is over, i hold megan close to me for as long as i can... and megan, tired from all these crying and screaming... sleeps... i turned to joelle and told her "b... 我要哭了~~~"

thereafter, we proceed to make payment... was queuing behind this parents, and the cashier told them, "$315...". joelle and me looked at each other and "wow...". megan's not cheap either, $141... it include a lab test of the mucus extracted... so lor...

once we reached home, i suddenly gotten so jelly and fell on the sofa... maybe its the lack of sleep, maybe its the shock i got from going thru megan's cries... whatever it is, i'm tired le... and so, joelle got to push megan to the baby sitter and go to see doctor herself (joelle is also sick, remember?)... see, can see joelle and megan waving at me?

and little impression of megan's PD... the real person looks cuter thou...

gosh... i'm still very traumatized by megan's cries this morning... btw, keep the votes rolling... :P
