Still getting used to all the bells & whistles that come standard on this car...

RIP Blue Baron...

Image

Thank you for getting me to RI, Maine, CT, Massachusetts, Canada and the countless trips to the Catskills!!  Your 17 gallon gas tank will be missed!

And thank you for conking out in NJ and not on the road to Lake Placid next month!

Boom...

To quote the Drum Bum in the Sun – “It is certainly important to intend and create positivity whenever possible, but to argue with what is happening can only create suffering.”

It has been a doozy of a day so far – one where you just have to stand and scream
because absolutely nothing is going smoothly.

AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!

And when you are done screaming, you open your email at lunch and
get a reminder that it could be way worse….

First thought - He can thank every single one of his guardian angels
for walking away from this accident and he should totally buy the same car.

Second thought - Man!  They do not make cars like they used to!!

Demanding....

My car was being fresh this morning! Pretty direct, huh?

Bad Car!!

I really like that the stereo plays MP3’s BUT……

The most commonly uttered phrase in my car while we were driving to and from Delaware - “Out of 178 songs you had to pick that one!?!?!”

We even swapped discs to see if it would help, but the “random” feature kept choosing songs that were ridiculously clued in to what we were discussing. (and the topics were all over the spectrum!)

And it continued this morning…..

"New" Car Smell....

I finally got my film developed (yes, film, I like using film). Here’s the token “new” car shot!

And of course, Pony had to get into the pix!

The New One…

It’s not quite my precious, but I am happy with it – no buyer’s remorse. I spend so much time in my car so I need to be comfy. I still have to take some artsy shots of it to share.

Oh, the car needs a name too – I’ve been toying with the Blue Baron….

My Criteria:
Runs on unleaded regular gas (w00t)
Steel Tires (no more cracking rims)
My skis fit (back seats fold down)
CD player/Decent sound system (VERY important)
Sunroof (negotiable but every car that I have ever owned has had a sunroof)
The sales guy should not be “smarmy”.

Actually, the sales guy had a way too familiar scar above his lip. And he even cracked a Twilight joke – I told him that his girlfriend would be proud of him.

So, I ended up with a Hyundai Sonata in electric dark blue – a nod to my Husky roots!

On the emotional side of things – “Vehicle” and “You Make Me So Very Happy” came on in the dealership as I was looking at the financials.

And on the ironic side of things - it is the same car that one of my friends owns. The same friend who was a die hard Honda lover that I used to race down the NYS Thruway in the middle of the night. (120 mph on an open highway at 3 am = courting disaster)

I drove off the lot and had to call him.
“Umm, what color is your car?”
“Yankee Blue….”
“Dude, I just bought your car.”
“See, we are meant to be together!!”
LOL

Bye Precious...

Image It was time – the stars aligned – I had to buy a car last night.

The Volvo was done - acting up - it was finally time to say goodbye.

I did shed a tear – we had a lot of history and I felt bad just leaving you in a parking lot.

You were what I needed after the evil Mike drunk driving accident. (You deserved to lose your license asshole - you destroyed my neck, my car and left the scene without slowing down because you were so trashed – I hope you at least got pink eye in jail if not an abusive boyfriend.)

I needed safety, security and not to drive a tiny two door car. I needed you.

I enjoyed the snooty windshield wipers on the headlights (which most people did not notice). I got used to butt warmers in the winter. I declared “Who buys a car with a black interior!?!?” every summer. I enjoyed the zoom factor of your turbo. You served me well.

Thanks for the road trips, the memories and the safety. I will miss you. (a lot)

Vroomy-ness....

Image I love the movie “Gone in 60 Seconds” – I’m not a gearhead but I appreciate a sweet car.

High excitement at work – this red piece of car yummy-ness arrived in the middle of the day and we all piled outside to watch it get offloaded. (truck maneuvering, hydraulic lifts in action, grown men giggling at the first glimpse of the car!)

It’s the owner’s son’s new four wheeled girlfriend…..I mean toy….I mean car. The boy is 21. It’s currently sitting outside purring…I mean idling…..as he puts the plates on it so he can go get it inspected.

I am fighting the urge to just hop in and take it for a spin……
