Night Out At Odd Hour

I am sure you don't want to go on a night out at 1am in the way I did yesterday night. Let me explain.....

Although I have a bad throat and an unsettling cough, still I make it a point to play with my papa every night. Yesterday was no different...... Mom administered me my meds and I began playing with him before going to sleep on his lap......My parents too went to bed at around 12. It wasn't much before they had to wake up again to the sounds of my painful cries. Initially, mom thought that it is part of my daily night routine. But as my cries turned more shriller, she realised that something is amiss. By then papa too woke up......My Ashu chacha also came down from his bedroom.....Crying incessantly, I extended my hand towards my Ashu chacha; with tears flowing down my cheeks....... Worried papa gave me some crocin.......My Ashu chacha recommended a car ride....And, we were soon inside our car driving towards the hospital....... 10 minutes inside the car and I was already of to sleep....Papa consulted one doctor on our way back home, who suggested him to wait until morning...... Decision to give crocin proved to be a timely one as I slept peacefully afterwards......

Mom had just spoken to my doctor who said that it must have been ear pain which generally occurs with throat infection....I am aleady on antibotics hoping that they will work....Infact they are already working.

Thank God, my odd nightout didn't last long!

PS: Yesterday night's ear pain didn't come back, so today's was a peaceful night for me...... I was the usual first to wake up in the morning and ensured that my parents are also up before their normal usual time..... May be that's why my papa is complaining of headache! Well, amidst all this talk of infection and medicines, one thing that hasn't shown any decline is my liking for walking on my own....more about it later!

Yet Another Update

Our new apartment is resonating with strange sounds of coughing and sneezing with me, my Rudra bhai and my papa down with throat infection....... Antibiotics have given way to fruit juice and my baby-food doesn't taste good.... At times, it feels as if I am carrying big weight on my head with a blocked nose.....I am draped in woolens from head to toe- mom managed to buy a monkey cap...... Oh pictures can wait as I don't want you to see my running nose!

Latest Update

We have moved into the new house and are having our own share of initial troubles that you would expect with every move- geysers not working, net yet to work properly, water supply is erratic etc etc. Seems that wasn't enough as now I have to deal with a bout of fever and bad throat as well- my Rudra bhai passed it to me.

Our connection will be up and running tonight. Till then, let me take some crocin and go back to sleep- didn't sleep properly last night!

Hyper-active Kid- Price One Pays

5 falls within a span of 2 hours had my forehead bruised badly on both sides and a small scar on left cheek; enough to leave me and my parents shaken. Ice-packs kept coming back with an alarming frequency and so did those bruises. A tentative morning followed an uncomfortable night......but good news is that smile is intact but so is the pain- guess that's the price you pay for being an hyper-active kid!

Back In Gurgaon

I am back in Gurgaon after starting from Dehradun at 4 in the morning. Decision to leave early prove to be a good one as we managed to beat morning rush hour traffic to reach Gurgaon at 9 am- record of sorts for my papa as he did 280 km in flat 5 hours..... I have lot to write but will do that tomorrow as my papa is not feeling well. His blood pressure for past 7 days is in a higher zone and he needs rest! I will be back tomorrow with lot of pictures, videos and a detailed post.......Until then, please take care of yourself..........

My Disappearing Act!

I am here....I am here....doing everything that I love doing......crawling faster than before.....trying to learn to stand on my feet......shouting out dogs.....etc etc....but, couldn't post anything as my umbilical cord to this blog had developed some throat infection......Umbilical cord???? Fever????...What am I talking about?.....Let me explain....

My papa who logs all these posts for me was down with throat infection...... that infection led him to high fever for couple of days.....As soon as he recovered, he headed straight to Doon valley jungles along with Sandeep chacha for a recce trip.....Way to recuperate or something is cooking....watch out!

While he was away in the jungles, my mom and I were busy attending Anil mama's engagement ceremony in Delhi.... It was fun....

And, with this, my latest disappearing act stands explained!

I am Running Fever.....

....since early Monday morning.......Actually, this fever bug in our house first caught hold of my Rudra bhai; he is running fever for past 3 days. Now, it seems that he has passed on the same to me........or should I say that the cruel bacteria or virus (whatever the case may be) was increasingly getting jealous of me and my immunity system.........So, it chose to hit me using an unlikely carrier- my Rudra bhai's morning kisses.......

Never mind! I will be fine and am not going to let this bacteria or virus come in the way of my brother's morning greetings; I love to hear him say- "Chooooooooooo cshweeeeet!"- 1st update posted Monday afternoon at around 4 pm.

Edited to add: Latest update- Seeing no improvement in my situation even after administering one dose of paracetamol; my worried parents took me to my doctor. His clinic was already full with an average waiting time of close to an hour; it seems lot of other kids have also been affected by this virus......

By the time my turn came, I was already running 101F fever. However, my doctor didn't find it alarming and said that my fever will go away in next three days.....He prescribed me some medicines for that duration. I have already taken my first dose of those medicines and am feeling much better now. My smile is back; watery eyes and running nose notwithstanding! Image
In addition to my cheerful smile, my boisterous shouting is also back......... You can actually hear me shout in the following video; only if you un-mute your speakers.

Edited again on Tuesday morning at 2.15 am- Imagine an eight and half old month kid running fever in excess of 101F in the hot and humid month of July; there is no electricity supply for past 4 hours and your power back up which was good for only two hours has already given up..........How do you expect parents of that kid to react? Let me answer this from my own experience as that kid was none other than me........

Understanding the importance of electricity supply restoration in the given situation, my father first tried his best to get in touch with the DLF and the electricity department officials over phone......After his failure to establish those contacts, he decided to physically visit DLF office........That too went in vain as there was no one else but an operator sitting there to take calls. This lackadaisical attitude on the part of DLF blew his top and the person in charge of maintenance at DLF had to bear the brunt of his anger and frustration over phone. That man must be thanking his stars for not being physically present in front of my father in that mood of anger and rage. All along this, mom was doing her best to reduce my temperature by using wet cotton pads..............in the candle light using a book as a fan.........

Later, my mom suggested my father to take me inside our car.......It was a good decision as I took no time to go back to sleep after getting inside the car........Mom and papa too were sleepy, but they decided against that as car ignition was on......After 10 minutes, my Ashu chacha called up to inform that electricity current has been restored. This left me wondering as to why we didn’t choose this option earlier!

I am back in my own bed sleeping comfortably as fever has subsided; wet cotton pads definitely helped!Image

Burning Sensation

.........is no more a mystery now. Just when I thought that my blog will finally see a post today, I did something unpleasant and painful.

It all happened after my papa and I finished playing together and were waiting for my mom to serve dinner. My tired papa told my mom to serve him on bed only. Like every other day, my papa first handed me my share- a tiny bite of chapati (Indian bread) and butter. As soon as I finished eating my share, I decided to try myself for my next bite. But, tonight luck had different plans for me and I lost my balance to found my tiny soft left hand inside a hot bowl of yellow lentils. I started crying immediately out of burning sensation and pain.....tears were flowing down my cheeks.....My worried mom applied some ice-pack which helped instantly.......

I am now sleeping comfortably in my bed; that initial burning sensation is gone and thankfully there is no injury on my hand.....I think timely ice-pack treatment and application of coconut oil helped .......So, no worries.....Image
My regular post will now have to wait until tomorrow. Till then take good care of yourself and yours! Good Night and have a nice day.............

My Tooth & Dimple Smile

Picture that proves my tooth has grown bigger in last 14 days. Image
Now that one tooth led to a discussion around my pictured dimple smile Image You know, my Ridhima didi and Rudra bhai too used to sport dimples on both their cheeks. But one of theirs vanished soon after their teething process got over....However, my Renu bua is of the view that mine are here to stay.

Let's see!. It doesn't matter to me if there is one or both.....

Arey baba! I smile not because of my dimples; rather my dimples are there because of my smile....

Summer Of 2009

Summers are fast nudging towards its prime with last few days’ temperatures making it the hottest Delhi April in last 5 years. It won’t be long before the city will start clocking temperatures in excess of 40 degrees Celsius on a continuous basis. I have my Garhwali genes to blame when it comes to coping up with the heat. The ill-effects are already there to see; it doesn’t take much for my full sleeves tee-shirts to be completely soaked of my sweat. That prompted my mom to begin experimenting with the half sleeves tee-shirts yesterday. However it had to be shelved today as I have a running nose since yesterday. In addition to that, my parents have also decided to postpone their plans to start the air-conditioners by another week.

On the personal front, I don’t have much to write today as I am still adjusting to the reality of parents at work during the day time. My wait for them finishes at around 6pm when mom comes back; my papa is taking longer these days due to year end work and reaches home after 9pm only. Our respective ways to greet each other is however same- my big smile and their warm embrace of me followed by a peck on my cheeks; enough to make us forget those afternoon hours of separation.

And, now an update on my Renu bua- doctor has said that she has a Pylori-H infection; for which she needs to take medicine for 6 weeks. Please take care my bua and know that I love you a lot.

Mom In Office- Testing Times

My mom had to literally drag herself to office after her two weeks extension of work from home facility expired last Friday. By the time I wake up, she had already attended to her daily chores. Only thing left on her plate was my bath; which she advanced by half an hour and finished with the help of my papa at around 9.30 am.

Tension was palpable all her face with mind constantly at work imagining the possible scenarios to deal with my separation anxiety. My disliking for the afternoon sleep and top feed was adding to her worries. Her concern was that as to how my nanee (her mom) will engage me in her absence.

After much persuasion and efforts she was successful in putting me off to sleep prior to leaving for work at 10.30 am. However that was not the solution to her worries and she kept thinking about me while in the car completely unaware of the help coming in from unexpected quarters- Reveda, her daughter itself. I didn’t give her any reason to feel threatened of any separation anxiety problem as I slept for close to one and half hours. Also, I would diligently drink top feed moments after waking up. I was laughing /smiling and giggling while playing with my nanee, chachee and Rudra bhai and would sleep once again for close to an hour in the afternoon. As my papa and mummy kept hearing of my progress, the frequency of their phone calls began to subside. Another round of top feed and it was about time for my mom time to head back home.

And I welcomed my mom with a big smile after she entered inside; something that was enough to make her bring that look of peace and satisfaction back to her face. With this my first testing day came to an end on an encouraging note. My mom’s wait for next day would begin as soon as first one ended.
And the next day was no different either!

Happy 5th Monthly Birthday

to me as I completed 5 months today. A brief of the month gone by:

1. Learnt to turn on my own; now they can't expect me to lay on bed on my back.....I turn, I raise my head with my entire weight on my stomach. I cry out of frustration when I am unable to move my hand stuck under my stomach but then I rejoice as soon as I manage to do that.

2. Learning to crawl- I pedal my legs and manages few inches of displacement from the original position to feel tired soon afterwards. Drooling off my mouth, I lay my head to rest for few moments and catch hold of my breath to start the process all over again; and continue it until I am completely exhausted. As a result, I manage to cover quite a distance- my achievement for the effort. With that, one more self learning exercise in my pursuit towards full scale crawling gets over......Next one will start at my will as per my convenience.

3. After they call my name, their wait for an eye contact with me equals the time that I take to be face to face with them........I follow their voice, move my neck to be able to look into their face and smile.....they forget whatever is worrying them.

4. As soon as I see my milk-bottle, I reach out for it; hold it to drink the milk off it. Not only this, I also reach out for the objects lying around me; if I manage to hold them, I rejoice in my achievement but if I am unsuccessful I cry zillions.

5. It is normal to see me use my fingers (or knuckles at times) in my fight against my hardened gums- all my fingers inside my mouth is a common sight these days.

6. I fully recognise my family members; but a stranger to me is bound to get a cold stare initially. And, when I see recognisable faces, my arms reach out for their embrace with a smile on my face.

7. I see off my papa every morning with a smile to return it again in the evening as soon as he is back.

8. When at my playful best, I often imitate the sounds that I hear.

9. I now have my own pram and a big green bath tub.

10. Last but not the least, my first hand to move is always the right one.....so unlike my father who is a natural lefthander. He still has hopes that I will be a lefty too.

All these achievements of mine were celebrated by cutting a cake. My mom ordered it and my Rudra bhai helped me slice it down the middle. The chocolate cake was surrounded by 6 jelly filled coloured candles. My mummy, papa, chacha, chachee, Tinku chacha and Rudra bhai were present there while my dada and dadee joined in over phone. My papa will upload the pictures later as he is unable to locate the chord.

As I said earlier, the beauty of time is that it just flies without anyone coming to know of it- it just occcured to me that winters are gone, so is spring and now blistering summers are knocking at the doors. And with those changes in the seasons, this small kid is now a 5 month old..

Delayed Post

My busy papa couldn't log this post on yesterday as he arrived late from work. He told me that it is that time of the year when he is most busy......end of financial year.....I don't know much about all these things as of now but I will be an informed person in next couple of years...... By the time he turned up at around 11pm, I was already fast asleep. But he would wake me up from my sleep as he is kind of used to seeing me first the moment he enters inside the house.....surprisingly so I didn't make any hue and cry of his act of waking me up early.

I am now going to mention something that will embarass my father- his short temper. He tends to loose his cool on petty issue these days...even an unwanted phone-call by a telecaller is enough to make him loose his cool. Apparently he is feeling the heat of pressures at work or he is stressed ....or it is just weather; but something is bothering him. I know he is bit concerned about me as my mom has to join her office full time in a week's time. His disenchantment and disapproval of the backroom maneuverings in the corporate world too has something to do with it. Actually few days back his one time mentor and ex-boss left the company he started 4 years back as a result of dirty corporate feud. It is about time my father do something which makes him happy; perhaps work on his dream project- A Play School. I am gonna be his customer, mentor and a model too... So, relax papa and take it easy....

Last but not the least, I have completed 5 months today. Time just flies.........and it is flying every other moment. More about my 5th monthly birthday in few hours from now....

Mom & Dr Babita

Nothing much to write today except that I am not feeling well......I have a running nose and bit of cough; it seems that my papa gave his cold to me as well....even my mom has it now. ....I will go to the doctor tomorrow as I am due for my vaccination and it is then my mom plans to ask the doctor about my cold. Until then I have to live with Dr Babita who has already given me two doses-obviously under medical supervision only..

Well, you know Dr Babita worked from home today but had to go to work for an emergency meeting at 5.30. You know one notable quality of my mom is her devotion and commitment to work.....you can never find her taking liberty of "work from home" facility. She gives more than 8 hours to work even when she is at home.

Will write more tomorrow...
