Square One - Yuma

Well, I don't usually post the tiles I complete for the Facebook group - Square One tangle of the week.

This week I have a few minutes spare before I begin work, so decided people who wonder about the group can see an example and it may spur them on to joining the group.

This weeks tangle was Yuma by CZT Tina Hunziker. I completed a white tile and a black tile.

Muster Mixer # 16 - Cubine & Miander

Heaps of fun this month with Anya Lothrop's Muster mixer. This month Anya asked us to mix/merge the tangles cubine and miander.

This month, instead of using a white tile I decided to use a tan tile. I am very happy with the final result. I hope you like it also.

Tangles: cubine, miander, printemps, tidings

I so enjoy these challenges Anya puts together for us. Although they take me away from the pure Zentangle process they are good for my creativity and problem solving capabilities. Through these mixers  I have noticed the ideas I explore, whilst doing  the muster mixer, start to appear in my Zentangle tiles and have added to create more interesting and different tiles.

If you are looking to add to your Zentangle creativity then having a go at Anya's mixer challenges once a month are a great idea. And best of all, if you want you can share your ideas with other people who love the challenge by using the linky machine, or not, or just enjoy watching your Zentangle tiles take on a whole new creative life.

Check out Anya's blog here.

Weekly Challenge #258: "UMT Rautyflex - by Kathrin Bendel CZT"

This weeks Diva challenge was to 'use my tangle', rautyflex by CZT Kathryn Bendel. Rautyflex is an interesting grid based tangle with many possibilities.

Here is my tile.

New Tangle Pattern - avid

Today I am introducing my new tangle pattern named 'avid'.

This tangle was inspired by the background image Laura Harms (A.K.A. The Diva), CZT. As often happens, when trying to reproduce a tangle from memory, we sometimes remember it differently, and this is how 'avid' was born. Avid is 'diva' spelt backwards.

Drawing avid will take some practice.

Here are some tips that you may find useful:
  • When drawing the upside down curves you may wish to turn your tile upside down instead so you always draw your curved lines in the same direction.
  • Place dots on your tile where you wish the curved lines to cross, and in the centre of the curve space. See my example of this at the bottom of the avid step out image where I have exaggerated the dots for you so you can better understand what I mean.
Avid is a very versatile tangle that can be used to make many tangleations. I hope you enjoy playing with avid as much as I do.

I look forward to seeing how others use avid when they tangle.
