The 4th of July

I am only a month behind on this post! We enjoyed a great 4th of July weekend including our annual "Freedom From Clutter" celebration, the Santa Rita Parade, the Sauer Family Reunion, and an afternoon at the tank (one of our very favorite summer activities.) Here are a few pictures...
Julianna, Brad, Gardner, and Griggs- The parade was so much fun and lasted about 3 minutes! All of the neighbor-hood came out to walk or ride in the parade.

After the parade, we drove down to Eldorado for the Sauer Family Reunion. Sutton's grandma was 1 of 10 Sauer children! We had a great lunch and enjoyed catching up with cousins and meeting relatives. I love this picture of Sutton and Grandma!
After the reunion, we went to Mike and Becky's house and then to the tank on the Vermont Place for swimming and a cookout. We enjoyed the evening with Mike and Becky and several old friends that we do not get to see very often.
The Vermont Place is a special place for us because we have been going there since we were dating. Each year, Mike and Becky clean out the tank and it is the perfect swimming hole. The water is clear and cold and the sky is beautiful out there. I love to sit there in the pasture and watch a thunderstorm come in. The best is when you can enjoy it all with a cold beer and some Texas country music, but this year I made do with a root beer.

The only negative side to swimming at the tank is having to watch out for the droppings from these guys when you get out of the water...You definitely want to wear shoes!

4th of July 2009 was a great day spent with family and friends doing what we love. As we drove home from Eldorado that night we enjoyed watching fireworks light up the sky on all sides of us. It really was the perfect ending to a perfect day!
