Halloween Wreath

Look at this fun Halloween Wreath! It's so cute! It's super simple to make too.

Here's a closer shot of it....

Here are a list of the things you need to make it.
  • A Green Metal Wire Wreath Form
  • Orange Deco Mesh (metallic adds a little extra shimmer), about 21 inches wide (10 yards)
  • Black Deco Mesh, about 5 1/2 inches wide on spool (10 yards)
  • Black pipe cleaners
  • Black bead embellishment (necklaces)
  • Plastic spider rings, various colors

Here is a picture of the wire form... These are available in a variety of sizes and can be purchased at almost any craft store.

Here's the orange deco mesh. It measures 21 inches by 10 yards. There is a fun metallic shimmer in the mesh that adds more dimension as well as some sparkle and zing. This way you get twice as much orange as black as you wrap it through the wire wreath form. The orange can be folded in half and then the black added as you start to fill up your wreath.

Here's the black mesh. There are varying size and depending on the size of your wreath will determine how much you need. But the rolls usually each have at least 10 yards and that should be enough for most sizes (plus it will vary if you make it super duper puffy). This wreath black mesh measures about 5 1/2 inches wide and didn't use as much of this as the orange.

Okay... here's where the black pipe cleaners come in. First cut the pipe cleaner into 3 to 4 inch pieces. Start by attaching the mesh to the wire wreath with some black pipe cleaner twisted around. Then start puffing and poofing the mesh and when you're ready for another junction point add the pipe cleaner again.

I found it easier to deal with the two layers of mesh first and then come back with the black beads and add them. But you can do all three layers at the same time if you want. The beads will need to be fastened on with pipe cleaner as well.

Finally add on some black/purple/yellow/etc. spider rings to the mesh.

Ta dah! Sweet and adorable on the door for Halloween!

Wreath Holder

Just got a brand new wreath holder... made by my ever so talented brother... Here is his blog where he is selling them. We got the star, but there are a bunch of different shapes plus you can accessorize the front to a letter or something as a Monogram. Very cool! They are made out of metal and they are strong plus it keeps the door and door frame from getting all scratched up.

Ribbon Wreath

Image
A fun ribbon wreath that is quick and easy to make. Great way to use up ribbon.

Click here for the link to the instructions to make one of these.

Basically you will start with a foam wreath form and many strips of ribbon. You can do a mono-color wreath like pictured here or you can do many colors of ribbons. Basically you will tie the ribbon onto the wreath form using a square knot (right over left, left over right). The square knot will keep the ribbon from unraveling. As you go around try to keep all the knots in a row on the front. Let the edges hang freely. The longer the ribbon, the more they will hang. If you use shorter ribbon, obviously it will produce a less full wreath. My ribbons all measured about 8-10 inches each, and I probably used about 100 ribbons.

Have fun tying all your ribbon.... If you have several coordinating ribbons, it would be a great way to use up some of your ribbon stash.

Think... red, green & white for Christmas.
Red, white and pink for Valentines day.
Black, purple, orange, and green for Halloween.
Orange, brown, tan, etc, for Thanksgiving.

Add in some rafia or some colored tulle.

There are so many possibilities... Have fun making some decor for your door!

Heart Wreath

Image

Needed something for my front door to decorate for Valentines Day. Found this cute tutorial on how to make this heart wreath! Loved it. First I bought a styrofoam heart using my 40% off coupon at JoAnn's so it was only like $2. I used about one yard of red fabric that I found on the clearance rack at JoAnn's (for $3), cut all the fabric into 2 inch squares.

Then using the tip of a pencil I wrapped the square of fabric around the pencil, dipped the tip into white glue and then pushed it into the styrofoam. Added some ribbon to the top! Voila! Adorable new decoration that only took a few hours.
