I'm Shannon, army wife, mom to 2 young adults, living and loving life here in Colorado!

BentoLunch started in 2007 when my oldest was starting school and we needed cute, fun food she could eat quickly during lunchtime.

Over the years, it's cycled back around into quick, fun, easy lunches and snacks for our adult selves.

Giveaway #2 - Easy Lunchbox Set

I'm really excited for giveaway #2! Kelly from Easy Lunchboxes offered to send us a set to try out and see what we thought. Since we're quite big on trying new bentos, we jumped at the chance. I love the idea of a larger bento, since sometimes, we just need more food for things and the fact that the compartments are separate so certain foods can be kept away from others (no one like soggy crackers!). We've tried a couple of meals so far in them-- the mouse wraps the other day and last night's taekwondo bentos . F&B were able to open them without a problem and the plastic lids & containers are much sturdier than disposable ones. Even better, they are dishwasher and microwave safe! That's actually one of my biggest complaints about traditional bentos, I prefer everything to go in the dishwasher. Yet More Feeling Better Girl Lunches

Still feeling much better, so we've got another lunch going on today! I definitely need to get back into the swing of girl lunches. Snack boxes for my husband is super easy, but that's because I make 4-5 identical ones. On the other hand, I do NOT want the same thing more than once! Today's adult lunchable features: Potato salad (1/3 cup, 160 cal.) Sharp cheddar cheese (1.5 oz., 150 cal.) Baby carrots (12 carrots, 48 cal.) Honeydew (1/2 cup, 32 cal.) ------------------ Total calories for the box are approximately 390 cal. For costs, the potato salad is around $0.70 because it is the preferred brand, but at least it's on sale! The cheese is about $0.34 because I'm using the store brand blocks of cheese versus the deli right now. Baby carrots are about $0.42 and the honeydew is around $0.25 for the serving. Total box cost would be about $1.71. This box is an EasyLunchboxes Snack Box once again, on Amazon for about $12 for a 4-pack.

Finally Back to Normal Girl Lunches

There is nothing like coming home from vacation only to end up with some sort of illness running through the house. Needless to say, there was a lot of non-lunches, especially of the girl variety. It finally seems like everything has settled down and we are ready to eat something that is NOT chicken soup once again! Today's adult lunchable features: Chicken salad (3 oz., 190 cal.) Baguette rounds (3 rounds, 100 cal.) Cucumber slices (1/2 cup, 10 cal.) Watermelon (1/2 cup, 25 cal.) ------------------ Total calories for the box are approximately 325 cal. For total costs, the chicken salad is about $1.50 for the balsamic chicken and let's add another $0.10 for the mayo. The baguette was maybe $0.20. The watermelon works out to about $0.25 per serving. And I've been estimating the cucumber at about $0.25. Total box cost would be about $2.30. This box is an EasyLunchboxes Snack Box once again, on Amazon for about $12 for a 4-pack.
