Speaking of websites....
I am just in the process of entering the world of website development/hosting etc. The experience was born out of a need to centralize important information for local residents to defend themselves from the resident sociopathic developer. I got so sick and tired of this old bastard making life difficult for 800+ residents of our area since 1975. Have been pondering the website for several months to better inform people about property law and other things.

The "kicker" for me was when the old bastard tried to choke my wife at his office on Aug 20th. I kid you not. Police etc. She was confronting him about his harassing letter writing he's been doing for years and he just attacked her.
She managed to kick and knee him and grab/twist his nuts several times until he let go. Nobody in the office saw anything, of course. She was traumatized yet remains focused on bringing this a-hole down. I always knew that my wife could kick the shiat out of an attacker, and she did. I should know, she kicked me in the balls years ago (by accident) when we were playing soccer with friends. I shall never forget.
My plans of revenge? Well, they are in progress.

Oh, and I found the webhosting to be very reasonable and affordable. So I am thinking of doing a "grampy" myself in the future, to avoid Photobucket.

Curious: Lunarpages

I designed/maintained a page for an organization years ago through them, but I never saw the money side or thought about anything besides content at the time, it's nice to see that price total is not far off from the cost of a imagehosting account. Thanx for throwing that up.

Not an arena, the entire town core.  Shopping centre*, commemorative park, a new bridge to cross the river, etc...

According to Google maps, the sports complex would be to the right of this picture, and was unaffected by the crash.

Nice.  I especially like the timing.  Comedy's all about the timing.

I've been getting clued in to that fact looking at your stuff, and how it can't just be a lightning loop which people don't have time to enjoy. Like the brick wall one the other day I forgot that lesson.

Thanx.

It's funny, I used to start my animations with 4 or even 5 second static frames and end them the same way (if the first and last frames were different, of course).  I've found myself drifting more towards 2 second static frames lately, which yours appears to be (or close to).  I think the lesson there is give 'em time to savor the .gif but not enough to get bored.

The last, and sometimes most important, part of the animation process for me is to run test animations and tweak the timing between frames and/or the spacing of layers.  Especially considering that the timing of what Photoshop shows me when I run an animation 'in program' is completely different from what I see when I view the final .gif 'in browser'.  I sometimes run 10 or more test animations before I find the one with the best timing.  Again, it's funny, but I love the meticulous nature of doing shops in general (blanks, glorious blanks!) and that can be multiplied 10 fold when you start talking about animations.  There's so much to get right but when you get it right it's a good feeling.

Maybe some 'mericans didn't even hear about this horrible disaster in Lac Megantic. The CEO (or whatever he was) of Montreal Maine & Atlantic and his "Canadian" counterpart were the most disingenuous bastards I have ever seen. It was hard to watch someone apologize so many times with a permanent smile plastered on his face and sounding like a moron.
The loss that small town endured was just awful, and difficult to watch.
On the positive side, many libraries across Maine have put donation cans up to help rebuild the Lac M library!

Props to your bro for helping revive that devastation. +1

I've been increasing my pause between loops and I just now reached 2 seconds. I think that it may be more dependent on the gif itself as to what length of time the pause should be i.e. fast and short gif should have a short pause and a more lengthy and measured pace gif needs a longer pause.

I always feel rushed to get them posted(all shops for that matter), not wanting to be outposted with a similar entry. Taking the time like you do tells me why your gifs look so smooth in their action.

You're right, we should be enabling the liters to more participation, especially since the work is already done with the cutting.

/I think we still need some way to keep the contests more front and center on Fark so that people will feel like their participation is not for aught. There was a shop in the ground penetrators contest that appeared yesterday, that was as a I told the person 'darn funny', and they had not turned on voting, perhaps with the idea that at this late stage, what is the point?

I don't think that votes are why many people participate, but it does let those late comers know they are part of the fun, and if few think to return to the threads after they have left the main page, while still active, and announce to that liter that they have been seen and heard, with a vote if worth it. It seems at times that people are very conservative with their votes for whatever reason. I have a book's worth of speculation on the matter, but I think that I have typed enough run-on-sentences for a while.

I do that every now and again, especially if the blank was particularly arduous and it seems like the task of creating the blank is stifling creativity in the thread.  That being said, I don't feel the need to offer a free blank every time I make one.  I rarely use the magic eraser tool and never use the extract filter.  95% of my blank work is done by hand and can take a very long time.  I'm all for encouraging participation but I also don't want to feel like I'm a blank factory churning out work to make it easier for others.  I've worked long and hard for the limited photoshop skill set that I possess and part of me feels like if any liter wants to hop into the photoshop pool they should do what I did:  just start making shops and figure it out as you go.

However, I will try to be more cognizant of the liters in the future and maybe up my blank posting a bit.

There is a Farker that has tutorials on his website where he yells at you and tells you that you can't draw straight and curved lines, funny stuff, anybody know who I'm talking about?

The pen tool seems to me to take way too long and is a real pain in the butt wondering which anchor I grab and which way do I push/pull/swing it. I know that PS differentiates between polygonal lasso and freehand lasso, but GIMP has them operating together seamlessly and it makes for a pretty nice selection method. I can't see how the pen tool could beat out just simply zooming in to the point where you see pixels that are an 1/8th of an inch across on your screen, selecting with the lasso and then choosing to feather the selection?

How many people don't shop cuz they think they have to cough up some cash or pirate a copy of Photoshop? How many think that MSPaint is the only other option to them and know that it is a joke to try to use it? We should have links to GIMP, Paint.NET permanently posted somewhere. There are even free online editors which aren't half bad like Aviary or the one that somebody pointed a Farker to the other day--> http://pixlr.com/editor/ , etc. I know there is some info in the PS Contest FAQ, which is two clicks from here after reading through a long table of contents, but it could be better presented.

Don't discount the votes. They're the reason I got started in this whole thing...to see if I could win a contest.

The challenge of making something really funny out of an O is my main driving force these days, but the votes are still nice to see and it's always a big rush to win one. Stertz has been a real buzzkill on that lately :)

It's not quite that bad.  The white tees are fine.  Firefox locks up more than that version of elements, it's actually pretty stable.  When it gets weird is when I have 3 or 4 browser tabs open, 3 or four photos open in elements and next Norton will decide I'm not busy enough and start running background activity. Quite versatile, functionality similar to PS, and older versions are almost given away on Ebay.
