Welcome to the Media and Information Literacy e-Platform
MIL Curriculum
This Curriculum presents a comprehensive competency framework of Media and Information Literacy and offers educators and learners structured pedagogical suggestions. It features various detailed modules covering the range of competencies needed to navigate today’s communications ecosystem. This resource links media and information literacy to emerging issues, such as artificial intelligence, digital citizenship education, education for sustainable development, cultural literacy and the exponential rise in misinformation and disinformation.
Audio-based MOOC
The radio-based MOOC empowers educators, families, and communities to guide young people in critically engaging with media and using it for learning, self-expression, and community action around global challenges. It is based on UNESCO’s Media and Information Literacy Curriculum for Teachers, a pioneering framework that equips educators and students with the skills to navigate today’s complex media landscape with critical thinking and wisdom.
Multimedia Toolkit for Media Organizations
The multimedia toolkit supports media organizations to develop policies, strategies and programmes that promote media and information literacy thereby restoring trust in media, stimulating public’s understanding of their right to information and freedom of expression, and enhancing media accountability and viability.
This international e-platform provides access to multimedia and multi-language Media and Information Literacy (MIL) reference resources and tools for educators, policymakers, practitioners, researchers, and individuals. It contains interactive and intercultural resources proposed for use in formal, non-formal and informal learning settings or spaces, in MIL national policy and strategy development, as well as guidance for MIL projects. All the resources can be shared and used. Those that are open education resources can be shared, adapted, used, and re-uploaded by users. Some resources are organized around the model resources Media and Information Literate Citizens: Think Critically, Click Wisely published by UNESCO, which is available in 9 languages. The aim is to facilitate intercultural dialogue and interreligious dialogue and mutual understanding, peace and freedoms for all through MIL. UNESCO kindly invite you to complete the registration form below and help us understand our users better as we continue to grow and improve the e-platform.
