From Anticipation to Action: The Civil Society Advocates’ Checklist for Lenacapavir for PrEP 

The most recent option in HIV prevention is injectable lenacapavir for PrEP – a six-monthly subcutaneous injection. To ensure community leadership is at the center of this rollout, the Advocates’ Checklist for Lenacapavir for PrEP Introduction helps CSOs and global health advocates pressure-test government commitments, map implementation bottlenecks and demand equitable access.

Global Health Watch: New Political Declaration on HIV/AIDS, End of US PEPFAR Support for South Africa + Treatment Declines

This week, UN member states adopted a new Political Declaration on HIV/AIDS reaffirming global commitments to end AIDS by 2030, but the US notably voted against it. At the same time, the US announced a phase-out of PEPFAR support for South Africa and new analyses show PEPFAR-supported HIV treatment declined in 2025, following the US Administration’s foreign aid freeze.

The 2026 US HIV Cure Academy

In April 2026, AVAC, the Well Project and the Martin Delaney Collaboratories brought together skilled advocates together, along with leading researchers and cure experts, for the US HIV Cure Academy. The Academy is designed to strengthen understanding of HIV cure science and build research translation skills in support of advocacy efforts. Learn more.
