GIRLS INTO CODING JULY EVENT
Supported by EPAM
This month, we hosted a fantastic Girls Into Coding event with a focus on renewable energy. We aim to inspire girls to view technology as a tool for positive change and to care for the environment. It was amazing to see their interest in renewable energy and the various methods for generating eco-friendly power. ♻️
The girls had so much fun building, coding & generating renewable energy with solar & wind to power their scaled-down smart houses. They competed with each other, comparing and monitoring their progress on the GIC National Grid Energy Monitor!
They showed outstanding teamwork, determination, and brilliance during the workshops.
During the event, the girls had the opportunity to listen to a motivating talk by Anna Gurung , encouraging them to embrace new beginnings without fear. They actively engaged in Q&A sessions, demonstrating their curiosity and eagerness to learn.
A big thank you goes to LSEG (London Stock Exchange Group) , Akua Opong, WINTech network and Civo for their invaluable support towards our mission. A special shoutout to Kieran from Civo for his assistance throughout the day. We also want to thank our mentors, volunteers, the girls, and parents who participated in the event.

HIGHLIGHTS ON OUR GUEST SPEAKER
Anna is a recent tech graduate with a background in mathematics and economics. During university, she began learning to code on her own to help a social enterprise operate more efficiently. This hands-on experience sparked a deep interest in technology and led her to join a tech graduate program, where she’s starting her career as a software developer.
With a fresh perspective and a strong belief in the power of continuous learning, Anna is passionate about encouraging more girls to explore coding and tech careers. She is a firm believer of the idea that it is never too late to start anything, regardless of their starting point.
