Hello!
My name is Erika, and I love all things creative and character! I’m 22 years old, currently living in California. I’m a Gryffindor, and I like long walks on the beach and sewing all night and sleeping all morning.
I don’t have any formal arts or sewing training, so I’m starting this blog as a way to keep track of my projects and document the creative process that goes into making costumes, cosplays, and clothes. My main strategy is a really stable combination of basic math, some guesswork that I like to think of as logic (but really is just guesswork), trial and error, and lots of hoping that things go well.
My first real cosplay experience was with Ursula in the D23 Expo 2017 Mousequerade. But I’ve always been a nerd in love with Disney and Star Wars and Harry Potter and superheroes, so cosplaying is probably the most exciting thing because I get to make and wear all the outfits I’ve always wanted and couldn’t have unless I had a reason for making them.
I’ve been sewing my whole life and I mean that in the loosest sense possible because it was really just pillows and little decorative things and Halloween costumes every here and there, aided mostly by my amazingly talented mom, who actually knows how to sew and what it means when the sewing machine keeps beeping. But she doesn’t do crazy things like tentacle skirts, so all of this is crazy experimentation that I do to cope with Lyme disease treatment and all of the super fun side effects that come along with that.
