About Labrinth

Timothy Lee McKenzie (born January 4, 1989), better known by his stage name Labrinth, is a British-Jamaican singer, record producer, composer, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter hailing from Hackney, London.

Coming from a family of musicians, Lab always knew he was going to follow his family’s footsteps as it came natural to him.
He started dabbling in music during his teenage years, forming two bands during that time, a band with his eight siblings called “Mac 9” and forming a pop-rap group called ·Dynamics", as well as learning how to make music in the studio.

In 2009–2010. he started working with British rapper Tinie Tempah, most notably on songs such as “Pass Out”, which debuted at number 1 on the UK Single Charts, and “Frisky”, which debuted at number 2 in the UK Single Charts. This momentum would lead him to sign to Syco Records and release his first single under the label called “Let the Sun Shine”, which debuted at Number 3 in the UK Single Charts.

After the single’s release, he would follow it up by releasing his album Electronic Earth on April 2, 2012, which debuted at Number 2 in the UK album charts.
While the album had mixed reviews, it showed fans that he had potential and ambition to master his craft.

He then started working with the likes of Rihanna, Kanye West, The Weeknd, Ed Sheeran, Nicki Minaj, Noah Cyrus and many more.

In 2018, he created the trio supergroup LSD, alongside Australian singer Sia and American producer Diplo, releasing many singles under the moniker such as “Genius” and “Thunderclouds” as well as releasing a self-titled album under it. He formed the group after spending some time in America and getting ideas to organize a supergroup with other artists, which led him to contact Diplo and Sia for it as they have been long time collaborators and acquaintances.

In October 2019, he began to compose soundtracks for the Official Score of the first season of the HBO TV Show Euphoria. A notable song that stood out from the debut score is the soundtrack “All for Us”, which became a classic in the series.

“All for Us” was originally written just for a record on my album anf then once Sam caught wind of it, he was just like, “I hear it, Lab. I’m in”. At first, I was a bit like, “Uh, Hollywood, you know, everybody loves to say that they’re gonna use your track for the finale of a massive HBO show”. To see my personal music and the music that I was creating for myself become a musical piece in a HBO series is tickling a lot of boxes. This is definitely a dream come true.

He continued compsing for the HBO series, going as far as to composing for the Official Score of the second season of Euphoria.

In 2026, Labrinth released two full length projects which were COSMIC OPERA ACT I on January 30, 2026 and its sequel COSMIC OPERA ACT II on May 29, 2026.

As of today, Lab has earned 2 Brit Awards nominations, 4 Emmy nominations and 4 Grammy nominations in total.
