Afro Rave is a sub-genre of Afrobeats that merges traditional African rhythms with modern elements like trap and electronic music. It blends Afrobeats, dancehall, and rave influences, creating high-energy sound that’s often characterized by pulsating basslines.

Emerging in the 2020s, the genre gained its distinct identity through Rema. Though other artists like Toya Delazy had experimented with similar sounds before it gained recognition, Rema is credited with coining the term Afro Rave and popularizing it.
