About Chillstep

Deriving from EDM, Chillstep stands out as a laid-back subgenre that combines the commanding bassline of dubstep, the stable rhythms of deep house, and the relaxing nature of ambient music.

With dubstep’s emergence in the 1990s, chillstep proliferated as a mellow version. It features lower volumes and slower syncopation. At dance clubs, DJs usually play chillstep tracks to cleanse of abrasive or uptempo sequences during the listening experience.

Its rise among dubstep aficionados is attributed to artists such as Skrux and Rusko, whose work led the 2010s movement. From electronic remixes to tranquilizing playlists, the style has considerably adapted to the music trends of recent years.
