Hard Dance is a super-category of electronic music genres usually characterized by fast tempos (150 BPM and above), “hard” four-on-the-four kick drums, and “bouncy” grooves. In general, hard dance was developed out styles of genres such as techno and hard trance starting from the 90s.

Mainstream genres under this category include hardstyle and happy hardcore, with tracks of hardcore EDM and its sister genres frequently included as well.
