About Post-Bop

Merging different jazz styles, Post-Bop is the 1960s subgenre that rose to prominence thanks to small yet defiant groups of experimental musicians.

By the end of the 1950s, bebop and hard bop artists created their own combinations, which resulted in jazz trends. Subsequently, post-bop was born, showcasing the best of both worlds—conventional and avant-garde. Historically, Miles Davis is credited with bringing the golden age of the hybrid through his revolutionary quintet and singular discography.

Post-bop stands out for the original compositions, harmonic progressions, rhythm section, and mixed meter.
