About Swing
Swing, also known as Swing Music is a style of jazz and dance that developed from the late 20s to early 30s. It has origins in other styles of jazz like big band, as well as blues and ragtime.
It has a stronger emphasis on rhythm than some other popular music of the time, as well as the feel or “swing” of the music. A lot of swing is performed with most of the band playing a prearranged piece while a soloist improvises a melody over that.
