Overview

B.Com is a perennially popular course, often chosen by students enrolling in evening colleges. It spans three years, divided into six semesters, and is affiliated with Bengaluru North University.
The primary aim of this program is to serve individuals aspiring to enhance their professional expertise and advance in the realms of commerce and management.

The curriculum delves into specialized and intensive knowledge acquisition, coupled with skill development in areas such as management, accountancy, taxation, and business communication. Additionally, students have the flexibility to select elective subjects during the 5th and 6th semesters, which include:

  • Information and Technology
  • Banking and Insurance.

Furthermore, the program covers English language and an optional language during the first four semesters.

Eligibility

Eligibility Prospective students who have successfully completed the two-year Pre-University course of Karnataka state, 12th standard, or an equivalent examination, are eligible for admission into this course.

Course Objectives

Programme Educational Objectives (PEOs):

  • PEO1: Foster the development of students' competencies in creating, measuring, analyzing, validating, and effectively communicating accounting, financial, banking, and related information.
  • PEO2: Cultivate an understanding of diverse systems, policy frameworks, and strategies required to manage the rapid transformations in global, legal, regulatory, and ethical aspects of Commerce, Business, and Accounting.
  • PEO3: Equip students with a comprehensive grasp of financial modeling, financial engineering, business analytics, its components, operational principles, interconnections, and regulatory considerations. Additionally, provide exposure to various functional domains of management.
  • PEO4: Empower students with professional skills, values, leadership abilities, and entrepreneurial acumen necessary for establishing incubation centers and small-scale enterprises in the contemporary context.
  • PEO5: Promote increased autonomy in students' learning and research processes, fostering their capacity for self-reflection and engagement in lifelong learning.

Programme Outcomes (POs):

  • Upon completing this course, students should be able to:
  • PO1: Demonstrate a solid understanding and knowledge of accounting concepts and principles, enabling them to measure, analyze, validate, and effectively communicate diverse accounting and financial information to relevant authorities.
  • PO2: Apply a range of techniques in the decision-making process, utilizing up-to-date knowledge in implementing business practices related to Finance, Taxation, Business Laws, and other business areas, within the appropriate context.
  • PO3: Utilize appropriate tools and techniques for planning, organizing, coordinating, directing, and controlling business enterprises, whether they are in the private sector, government, or non-governmental organizations, to meet the present and future expectations of the business and industry.
  • PO4: Demonstrate the ability to instill professional ethics, integrity, and social responsibility across various domains while adapting to evolving technology and applying skills towards sustainable development.
