JAMIE APPROVED PRODUCTS

JAPS Criteria per Category

For a product to be officially “approved by Jamie'' it has to be pretty awesome. More specifically, it must meet and hopefully surpass certain criteria. The following are the top 3 criteria used overall, with more specific details provided in each individual category.

  1. The product MUST taste AMAZING
  2. Product must have high quality ingredients
  3. The product must be free of the following: toxic additives, colors/dyes, high fructose corn syrup, artificial flavors, GMO ingredients and bleached/enriched wheat.
  1. Grains must contain whole grain ingredients
  2. Grains must have a significant fiber content
  3. No enriched/bleached wheat products are approved
  4. Gluten free grains are used as often as possible, without the use of GMO corn or tapioca starch as filler
  5. Processed foods, like crackers, are as minimally processed as possible
  1. Beef and beef products must be grass fed
  2. Poultry and poultry products must be free of hormones or antibiotics and/or USDA certified organic
  3. Plant based products made of soy must be organic and non GMO
  4. Fish must be wild caught
  5. Eggs must be pasture raised
  1. All fruit is fresh or frozen with no other added ingredients
  2. Fruit products must have no added sugar and include whole fruits, not juice or fruit concentrates
  1. All vegetables must be fresh or frozen with no other added ingredients
  2. Packaged vegetables must have minimal added natural ingredients
  1. Cows milk dairy must come from grass fed cows whenever possible
  2. Non dairy alternatives must be unsweetened
  3. Non dairy alternatives must have minimally added gums
  1. Dietary fat sources will come mostly from plants making them unsaturated sources of fat
  2. Animal sources of dietary fat will come from grass fed or organic sources
  1. Sauces and dips must have clean quality ingredients
  2. Sauces and dips must not have artificial chemicals or flavors 
  3. Sauces and dips must use healthy oils
  1. Snacks made of grains must contain whole grains
  2. Snacks must have minimal grams of added sugar 
  3. Snack selections will include some vegetable options to help dissolve the idea that snacks must be unhealthy foods
  1. Desserts must be minimally processed with no chemicals added 
  2. Desserts will include dairy and dairy free options
  3. Desserts will taste delicious
  1. Drinks must provide proper hydration
  2. Drinks must not have any added sugars or colors
  1. Substitutes must provide great tasting alternatives to unhealthy foods
  2. Substitutes must be easy and quick to prepare in order to provide convenience
