The NSU Libraries are your partners to support teaching, research, and academic excellence through comprehensive services and innovative resources.
Research Support
Librarians offer personalized research assistance at every stage of the scholarly process. Services include Ask A Librarian individual research consultations, literature searching support, citation management guidance, and access to EndNote software. Faculty may suggest materials to purchase for the library collection and may borrow additional materials through interlibrary loan and document delivery services.
Teaching & Curriculum Support
Faculty may schedule library instruction sessions tailored to their classes, attend live librarian-led workshops, access on-demand instructional library videos and self-paced online tutorials such as Razor’s Research Bytes, and integrate LinkedIn Learning playlists into Canvas. Librarians can help enhance courses with print and digital materials, including books, e-books, and database articles that support curriculum readings. Librarians collaborate with faculty to create customized course guides, place materials on course reserve, and curate Open Educational Resources (OER).
Publishing & Archiving
Librarians offer guidance on publishing strategies, copyright and fair use, open access options, and the archiving of scholarly work through the university's institutional repository, NSUWorks, to increase research visibility and impact. The library also supports NSU's Research Information Management System (RIMS), Pure, through both synchronous and asynchronous training and troubleshooting. Additionally, analytical reporting services are available through Pure and SciVal.
Tools & Technology
The NSU Libraries offer access to advanced technology tools and creative spaces to support teaching and research, including 3D printing, digital media labs, and a virtual reality lab. Faculty may borrow equipment and curriculum-support materials such as cameras, laptops, and calculators through the Library of Things as well as utilize mobile apps that connect to library services. Librarians also provide instruction on how to use AI tools within library databases and strategies for navigating the evolving role of AI in academia including ethical considerations.
Each of the NSU Libraries specialize in designated subject areas to align library resources with curriculum design, disciplinary standards, and accreditation requirements.
