I write when I hear cries of dismay
I write when I’ve got nothing to say.
I write when my son paints the dull world for me,
I write when he says he’ll always be there for me.
I write when I miss talking to a friend,
I write when I’ve got a relationship to mend.
I write when I see someone wishing to fly,
I write when I see them falling and cry.
I write when I see people gazing at stars,
I write when they wipe out their scars.
I write when I see myself jumping on cloud nine,
I write when I long for something that’s not mine.
I write when I see someone dancing and sing,
I write when someone makes it to a diamond ring.
I write when the snow melts on far-off mountains,
I write when the sun glimmers through fountains.
I write to express how much I love to write,
I write to proclaim, I’m the wind, I’m the kite.
