Marie standing in Parliament

How can I help?

If you live in the Penistone and Stocksbridge area and have an issue that you care about or a problem that needs addressing, you can let me know.

Important information

Due to strict parliamentary protocol, I can only take up casework on behalf of constituents or organisations within the constituency. Please therefore include your full address and postcode in your email or letter to me.

Whilst I understand that people often approach me with issues that are emotive, frustrating, or distressing, my office has a zero-tolerance approach to abusive or inappropriate communications. Please note my standards and behaviour policy.

What can I help with as your Member of Parliament?

  • I can provide specific advice on an issue affecting you, such as housing
  • I can give you my view on an issue, such as a petition to ban something
  • I can write to a government minister or department on your behalf
  • I can liaise with local authorities and organisations where you need further support

Who else can help me?

For many issues, such as planning, dustbin collection, and road repairs, your council and councillors should be the first port of call.

In Barnsley, this is Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council, whilst in Sheffield, this is Sheffield City Council.

You can find your local councillors on the mySociety website.

If you feel the council has failed to adequately help you, then please contact my office.

There are many excellent local and national charities who can provide free, confidential support with issues. These are listed under the specific issue dropdowns below.

Advice surgeries

I run regular advice surgeries across the constituency. These are opportunities for you and I to have one-to-one conversations about issues.

Surgeries are usually reserved for more complex cases, so for most issues it is quicker to contact my office by email, post, or telephone in the first instance.

Surgeries are by appointment only. If you would like to book a surgery, please contact me using the options listed at the end of this webpage.
