Captain America is a star-spangled hero who serves his country, the United States of America, as a sentinel of liberty and a symbol of truth. Steve Rogers became Captain America, the first Super-Soldier, to act during World War II. Presumed dead in the conflict, he spent decades trapped in ice until revived by the Avengers in the modern world. He has since been an echo of honor and past values of society. Many others stepped in as Captain America. John Walker, the U.S.Agent, in scheme by the Commission on Superhuman Activities, operated as Captain America. Bucky, Rogers' partner from the war times, replaced Rogers to honor his legacy after his death. Most prominently, Sam Wilson, Captain America's ally known as the Falcon, has shared the identity with his friend as an alternative representation for their country. For a time, a perverted version of Steve Rogers loyal to Hydra covertly operated in his place. Heroes and villains who also wore the mantle in specific occasions include William Nasland, Jeffrey Mace, the Grand Director, Roscoe Simons, among others.
