About

Messy Avocado are four self-identified messers based in the Wee County of Louth, Ireland, who don’t take themselves too seriously – and don’t live on avocados exclusively! They are powered by distortion pedals, emotional honesty and whatever energy is left after bedtime routines.

Absolutely done pretending life is tidy, they write loud, raw songs about the ups and downs of being middle-aged females — hormones, motherhood, heartbreak, rage, joy and the occasional existential crisis. Messy Avocado’s sound leans into grunge-soaked alt-rock with big hooks, honest lyrics and zero polish where polish isn’t needed.

On stage, Messy Avocado bring big female energy, fearless craic and the kind of live show that feels like a group therapy session – if group therapy had guitars turned up too loud.

The band grew organically and has now reached peak ripeness with Treasa McCabe (guitar, voice), Sonya Larrigan (drums), Gemma McGowan (keys, voice) and Ina Doyle (bass, voice).

Messy Avocado are regulars in Toales Music Venue in Dundalk, have raised the roof in Dundalk’s Spirit Store, McHughes in Drogheda, multiple venues in Navan, and Fibber Magees in Dublin. They are currently in the studio turning four of their original songs into tracks.
