Health insurance, quality education, affordable housing, and employment rights remain inaccessible to many in Pescadero, La Honda, Loma Mar, and San Gregorio. These systems that surround San Mateo County, like so many other U.S. communities, are complex and often uphold historic racial oppression and discrimination.
Our South Coast neighbors deserve an ally that shares tools for self-advocacy, empowering them to overcome these barriers of oppression and move confidently forward into their future.

Puente works with a trauma-informed care approach to reduce health disparities in our rural, coastal towns.
COMMUNITY MENTAL HEALTH AND WELLNESS
Puente’s Community Mental Health and Wellness (CMHW) program, provides accessible, high-quality, and culturally relevant mental health services with bilingual English/ Spanish mental health professionals at no cost to individuals and families.
EDUCATION
Puente fosters increased educational opportunities for all. From early childhood education, family engagement, youth programming, through adult education programs.

The mission of Puente’s Community Engagement and Public Policy (CEPP) Program is rooted in principles that all community members have the right to be informed, consulted, involved, and empowered in decision making processes that impact their lives.
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
Puente is often the first and only stop for nearly 1,500 people each year. Puente provides support with navigating public benefits, case management, free tax preparation assistance, free health coverage enrollment assistance, access to healthy, along with other critical services.
