MyRightsMatter
was created by people with disabilities, for people with disabilities.

It’s a place where we share our knowledge and lived experience about rights, making choices, and speaking up for ourselves. The site includes 8 interactive modules that cover rights, responsibilities, the law, history, and how to make decisions in your own life.
Although this website was made to support people with disabilities, anyone can use it to better understand the real experiences, strengths, and challenges we face. There’s also a bonus module for service providers who want to take steps to build and support authentic leadership from the people they support.

A Message From Philip…

Hello everyone! My name is Philip Bialk. I am the Chair of the St.Amant Self-Advocate Committee, and I’m proud to be part of the working group that helped build this website.
Throughout the modules, you will hear stories from other members of the working group. It’s important to learn directly from people with lived experience. We believe that peer learning (learning from each other) is one of the best ways to grow.
We are all in this together. Before I go, I want to share some of the most important lessons I’ve learned:
- You are in control of your actions.
- You are the author of your life.
- Everyone has the freedom to express their opinions and beliefs
- You have the right to access important services.
- You are not alone!
Good luck on your learning journey!
