Intertwined 04:31
Doesn’t matter how deep the divide; in each other’s gaze we recognize. We don’t have to speak; something inside resonates without a single word. Drifting toward what makes us whole, always swimming in the pull. In a certain empty space meant to fit your shape... the pieces moving closer. With our branches intertwined, I will believe that the feelings carry through. If there’s dawn for every night, I will believe that they lead me back to you. Rivers separately flowing to sea join to be as one eventually. In whatever form we take, however far we stray, we’ll be guided back together. The countless turns round the same coasts, carving a map with the streams that know where we belong.

I’m not afraid of meeting silence as my remaining voice is drawn. I’m not afraid of the surrender of everything that builds my bones. I’m not afraid of no salvation when my dying hour comes. I’m not afraid if only nothing is what greets me when I’m done. I’m not afraid of the conclusion that none of us ever outrun, but I’m afraid of not deserving the time I have before it’s up. Please don’t let me fail the questions repeating in my head... Do you know how much I love you? Did I truly make you know? Did I ever really tell you? Did you ever really know? (One less day every time I open my eyes. One less day till I reach the end of the line.) I am afraid I’ll spend a lifetime forgetting what is right and wrong. I want to promise not to falter; to have always made you proud. You will know how much I love you; how you keep me brave and strong. Of the things I am unsure of, none are your place in my heart. So until my time comes calling, I’ll know just where you are: The best part of my years.
3.
You’re waving from afar. Through the fog, the many intersections bend behind you. Unseen, the subtle ways you are. Hiding under views I cannot touch. I saw you in a dream... I mean it... comes right back to me. Clues from the other side whisper altered endings: Ever afters; different players. Maybe on other roads, we won... but it’s so far from the one we’re on. I see the paths begin to part: some to end, some to start.
4.
I won’t know how to leave you when you’re gone; my heart will still be searching in the dark. I won’t know how to leave you when you’re gone; reaching for your breath, I can’t hang on. I won’t know how to leave you when you’re gone; a permanence I cannot make sense of. Tell me how to grieve now that you’re gone; knowing that you’re never coming home... Through the seasons and beyond, I’ll be waiting here for you. As the light is going out, I’ll be right here with you. In the / your final moment, let my love guide you on... Awake all night, I memorize with all my might this one last time: the way you feel being held in my arms. And with the sunrise you’ll be gone: free of the pain that’s now all mine. I won’t know how to leave you when you’re gone... I am lost without you in the dark.
5.
Charlie, close your eyes and wait for my call. We have our own special line. No use getting any others involved: this is for only you and I. I just wanted to say, “Hope everything’s okay with you.” Charlie, come and tell me all about your life. Please don’t worry about me. I can still give you that famous good advice... tell your father I said hi.
6.
How quickly the image disappears. I’m doing my best to keep it near. Reminding myself the sights and the sounds dissolving into memory. I try not to live my life in fear. I’m grateful for every minute here. Hold onto this instant, take nothing for granted; nowhere else I’d rather be. And I’ll be singing: You are what I’m keeping. You are what I’m saving. Even when the darkness calls. Won’t waste what I’ve been given.

He tells himself to look away. “Don’t look at the fire: there’s blood in the smoke.” But when he dreams, it’s all he sees: The crash burning bright... his boy in the flames. They found no body on that night. “With no body found, there is still hope.” He tells himself that everyday as he patiently watches the door. The same repeated prayer tonight. Leaving the light on. He will sit here till the day his son comes home.
8.
Like a small, muted echo, fading out as it circles. It speaks our names and all that we’ve done, but in the end leaves no mark. We remain ever hopeful: Find meaning in the labor; a love that warms you in winter... Erased in a thousand more. Time will not remember us. Not a trace upon Forever. The lives that we made are forgotten. No record of your struggles. What you felt, no one recalls. Cuz from this world stories are lost, as we take ours underground. Time will not remember us. Not a trace upon Forever. The lives that we made are as if they never were. Time will not remember us. Just visitors through Forever. The lives that we made only known to ourselves.

Lie in It 03:53
Lay down your head and cover your eyes, there’s not a wave that’s crashing down on you. Lay down your head and cover your eyes, you’re drowning but you still say it’s not true. Your final cries still show surprise. You dug this grave: now lie in it.
10.
Sleep. The cold air’s tracing your breath. I’m watching and I’m amazed: how you can make sing. Sound. I’m creeping as the cover’s pulled. Are you counting down the last tolls? Let’s try to drive extra slow. We’ll make these last few weeks our hearts’ home. We’ll take each morning break and fix our own. I’ll make sure you hear this, even at an ocean’s length. This is your lullaby... say goodnight. Sleep. I try not to wake you as I sing. And I thank you for listening. Say hi to Europe for me...
