It has worked. I wonder if people are getting more savvy to it. This may just be me, but when I see titles like that I scroll passed because I know it's now the common marketing/sales technique.

If you build your own CMS go into it thinking that no one else will ever use it and that's okay. Expect spending many months and even years on it and you may be the only one that uses it. If you're cool with that, do it. If anything it could be fun, depending on what feels like fun to you.

Great idea. Keep improving it. Replace some of the plain emoji buttons with pixel retro buttons. Hire someone to make a few really nice animations/graphics... like for the drink pouring. Eventually, even though you promote it as a place with no chat, I would think some chat would be cool.

It's not stuck between genres. It's Alternative Rock. Or, some might call it Pop Rock. Either way it's what I would hear in the late 90s and early 00s on my local alternative rock stations. Like early Foo Fighters music.

These days if you go to an alternative playlist though, you'll hear all kinds of stuff... electronic, pop, indie... the music industry is confusing these days in my opinion. It used to be that alternative was either grunge like Nirvana, or sometimes a little more pop sounding like your style of rock music (or Weezer, Soundgarden, Blur, etc.).

So, I'd say this is simply Alternative Rock or Pop Rock.

We'd have to completely redesign our society. Instant gradification would have to be eliminated. We've damaged our brains because we post on social media, get instant likes and attention. We then feel like real life is the same. Everything is fast paced. Like u/WampaCat just said the economy sucks (late stage capitalism). So, it's this huge combination of things which is also hard to fully explain.

We'd almost have to turn off the Internet for 10 to 20 years. Go back to slower times. Which isn't happening.

Not much except selling. We walk around selling to each other. Example, you walk up to a friend, they say, "check out my new track (music)," and then you reply with, "cool, check out my new app." Both glance but neither commit to helping each other grow.

Updates (July 2, 2026): More features added to bookmarking: Enable a public bookmarks page which can have a bio, links, and youtube video. On your private bookmarks page you can star up to 5 bookmarks so they show first on your public bookmarks page, or X any to hide them from your public page. A news page was added too (link to news in footer). And, the site's tagline shows a different user every 3 seconds because I want this to be a community effort. The tagline user name will link to your public bookmarks page if you have it enabled.

I wanted the same. I don't know if all Vanuatu are created equal, but, I went with a type from Vanuatu because I heard they may be stronger. It at first reduces my anxiety and makes me feel calm. Admittedly, if I drink too much I can feel a little sedated, like I'm not 100% able to concentrate. But, just don't drink too much. And it's hard to drink too much. You'd have to drink it all day.

For this first foundation version you manually add any web page you want to add to Litter Layer federated search in sites.json (as many as you want). A separate json file in a .well-known folder identifies you; that's the one that has the URL to where these files are (node identifier).

So, with this set up, anyone can contribute to search results at litterlayer.com from their server when a user enables the federated mode.

The next phase will allow you to have your own mini search engine on your server while also contributing to the search results at litterlayer.com.

Yes, self hosted in subdomain is fine. This first version also requires PHP and Apache (Apache because a .htaccess redirect is needed).

I added a few filter options in account settings. The only issue is this is a new search engine just starting to collect websites. So, it won’t replace Google or whatever you use to search today. But, who knows what the future holds.
