Slugarine was born on July 14, 2019.

The name Slugarine combines Slug and Submarine. The “marine” part is also inspired by Gunkan Sushi (Japanese battleship-style sushi), which serves as the symbolic vessel for our little slug’s adventures.

I’ve always loved slugs. In real life, they’re often mistaken for snails, and people jokingly describe them as “snails without shells.” Thinking about it almost makes me feel sorry for them. But perhaps that’s exactly the spirit of a slug—quietly embracing life with a slightly world-weary attitude.

So why not face the world the same way?

Imagine a lazy slug slowly crawling into a piece of gunkan sushi and setting off on a comforting journey filled with delicious food and small moments of happiness.

I have a deep love for ramen, and I’m fascinated by the idea of transforming everyday objects into oddly adorable little creatures. I often imagine mysterious beings secretly hiding in the corners of rooms or deep inside closets, quietly sharing our living spaces. One day, I hope to become friends with them and live happily together.

Because of this, the world of Slugarine has always revolved around these “mysterious roommates.” Through my creations, I hope to turn ordinary corners of daily life into tiny planets filled with surprise, imagination, and wonder.
