I’m really sad to hear of the passing of Moya Brennan. The music she made with Clannad will always mean so much to me.

Clannad has always been a musical touchstone to return to. Something real, homely, grounded, and wild too.

Just rolled credits on Split Fiction with my eldest. Good game. It took us a year to get through it. Had a lot of hilarious moments.

We’ll probably revisit It Takes Two again soon. It’s lighter and more fun I think, and has a lot of mini games too. Very replayable. I have good memories playing it the first time round.

The sky is blowing my mind this morning! I'm taking some pictures from my window. I'm seeing beautiful gradients of hues, but this camera is capturing greater detail in structure and colour contrast than I can see with the naked eye. It's amazing!

I watched The Legend of the Rangers (a B5 TV movie) tonight with my kid. It was pretty hilarious. We're on the home stretch of our watch through now. 〰️ Love this universe so much. But this was difficult to watch. Saved only by the presence of G'Kar.

It's so nice to sit here in the mornings with my coffee and watch the sky. The sun is moving South and now rising behind a huge evergreen tree. ➿ For the next couple months there will be ~zero direct sunlight coming through this window. Time to embrace the Winter darkness. Love it!

I'm sitting in the park under the trees. The air smells of autumn: decaying leaves and a wood burning stove nearby. Golden hour is a few minutes away and the light is a silvery hazy gold. A robin is hanging around me hoping to be fed. What a treat! Fkn gorgeous.

I sent two emails to Internet friends this evening. It's so nice to meet people in online social places and then stay in touch.

The Simpsons Fortnite season is really good. Got a VR early this morning before the sweats woke up. The map is amazing and it's a really immersive experience. Only thing is it's very bright and colourful – way beyond the usual Fortnite standard. Maybe too much.

I'm so frickin tired, sludgy and foggy. I thought pain meds would help me sleep but insomnia is very bad now. Codeine was nice at first but the yuck is real. I really need it because the pain is so intense without. I'm actually looking forward to this root canal now.

Fortnitemares is a lot of fun. And it looks incredible. Me and the kid had this amazing cinematic moment last night. It was like a set piece in a Bond movie and just happened spontaneously in the end game of our last match. Not sure if I can share it but I will if I can.

Just had quite a lot of dental work done. Anxiety attacks during drilling was a very intense experience. But the dentist was really nice, kind, and did a lot for me today to fix my mouth up for the future. I'm grateful for that.

I feel like cancelling and deleting the few loyalty cards I have. I'm tired of checking why I didn't get a particular deal or something. And I'm realising I'm wasting precious time that I could spend just not giving fuck about the crumbs these corporations are sprinkling.

The art room was really busy today so I used another room and I could properly spread out. Had good fun with my Posca chisel tips and Daft Punk in my ears. Very nice! Totally exhausted now from socialising too. Now I'm home it's time for a coma nap. Getting out and creating was really good for me. It's been a super stressful time recently and I have to be careful I don't go into burn out mode…

Just completed Jusant. It's a cozy climbing story set in a beautiful vertical landscape. There's a real feeling of up and DOWN, which makes it pretty unique. I think I'm gonna go for the plat, I'm probably not too far off.

I visited Mum in hospital this morning… I took a coffee picnic with me: a flask of foamless latte, real ceramic mugs, and shortbread too. It was really nice to treat her a bit and have a proper coffee with her. Really hoping she can go home soon. Seems like she might be almost ready but will need a lot of care. I think staying in hospital too much longer would hold back her progress. Love you Mum 💜💜💜

I made it out into the park for a photo stroll today. It smelled amazing there. Every time I go I have a Narnia-esque moment of stepping through a portal (railway bridge) and into a magical world. I took a flask of tea and chatted with a guy about herons. Got spooked by a caterpillar too 😱

Had a great evening with the eldest. Fresh local wood oven pizza, tiramisu, Babylon 5 and a little stroll in the evening light. Serious autumn vibes and that rain in the air-smell. Yum!

Had a good experience at dentist today. They were kind and friendly. Something I need so much from health/support professionals but is often severely lacking. … My mouth a bit of a fucked up with missing or ground down teeth but I otherwise was given good marks for gum health, oral hygiene and brushing. Recent extraction is healing well. I'm booked in for some maintenance in a few weeks. It feels good to be looking after myself. And have good professionals helping me out. Nice 👍

Had some fun with my chisel-tip Posca pens today in art group. It's the first time I got to use them properly on some good paper. Last time I used them they shredded the paper I was using. I really love the way they lay down the colour. Really, really nice.

So glad I made it out to my support centre today. I couldn't really handle it tho. Lucky for me I took a bag of art gear and shut myself away in the art room. Did a weird drawing I quite like.

A nice Sunday was had with family. My aunt was visiting and I haven't seen her in a few years. It was a nice catch up. Unfortunately a couple of us couldn't make it for various reasons.

I spent the entire day yesterday with my oldest kid. We went for an early photo walk and breakfast. Then sheltered from the heat in my flat for the rest of the day. Very very nice! Today is for recovering in solitude. Aaaaaaahhh

It was super nice to get out and about with my camera this morning. But by the time I got home the heat was getting to me and I’m not feeling so good now. Going back to bed for a couple hours of rest now I think. 😴

I was at my support centre for high tea and community this afternoon. It was my first time outside my village in a while. And I found out what’s happening once this new org takes over in a few weeks. Thankfully not much will be changing at first. It was nice to be around people again. ☕️

Andor season 2 was so amazing. I watched with my son whilst on holiday. It's one of our shows. I can't stop thinking about it and I'm sad that it's over tbh. It's a story for these times and I need to rewatch soon. So dense and smart and powerful. Peak Star Wars. 🎬

Death Stranding is super addictive. I was doing well. But then I got completely overwhelmed by BTs and shit went south very quickly. I had to backtrack all the way to base.

I also started Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart a couple of days ago. It's a pretty good looking game and I'll probably play it through. The rifts are a super cool mechanic and it runs really smooth.

I started playing Death Stranding (directors cut) last night to see what all the fuss is about. Wow! Blown away by the quirkiness, story, the vibes, and how good it looks in performance mode at 60fps. I'm a couple of hours in and I'm IN.

Have just returned home from a short break away with family. Not the holiday we planned but it was super nice to get away and spend some quality time with my eldest. We've walked miles and miles and taken many photos.

I just saw 28 Years Later. I had zero clues about the film so was totally surprised by the plot. It was very good. Looking forward to the next one!

Seriously considering saving up for a certain games console that was released this year 👀. The main downside of this is starting with a completely empty game library.

I'm so glad the heat broke. It was breaking me. Still, it's very very warm in my flat this morning. It heats up slowly but also cools down slowly. And we didn't get the promised thunder storm last night. I was actually really looking forward to that.

I have a pudding deficiency

Today I found out my youngest plays Apex at Pro level (he isn't a pro, and has kept it quiet how good he is). I can't give a number, but he's very high in the global rankings. I'm really proud of him. He's such a sweaty gamer and it makes him happy. I miss playing Fortnite with him.

In other bad news. We had to cancel our family holiday today. Problems with a bank not releasing money. Hopefully travel insurance will cover costs as it's not our fault. We haven't done this since 2019 so I'm gutted about it not happening. It was a dream holiday tbh.

I just found out my support center lost their contract and will be closing very soon. It's being replaced by some new org. But they don't know anything about what's happening, or if staff will be keeping their jobs or not after the transition. It's a shock.

I played the free demo of Cairn. I got through it in about 2 hours. It's really good! I felt real moments of anxiety when her arms and legs started shaking. The feeling of an impending fall was very anxiety inducing. 🧗‍♀️

Oh no! I seem to have felted my wool jumper in the washing machine 🥺. It now looks like a child's jumper. I'm wondering if I can stretch it back out once it's dry. Probably not I guess. Gosh dang it.

To fill my Detectorists void, I watched 90 mins of behind the scenes on YouTube. And it was equally wholesome 💜. I found out it was filmed in Orford (mainly Framlingham), which I know a little and have been in that pub a few times, years ago now. It's a really beautiful part of the world.

Mythic Quest was pretty good. I'm sad it was cancelled. Seems like the streamers always manage to cancel the wrong shows. Would be a good idea to check in with me first 🙂‍↕️

I'm happy with my new kettle. It's fast and quiet. Cups of tea are quick to make! My last one was old and getting a little unsafe even before I dropped it (creating a boiling water fountain I mostly avoided).

Last night I dreamed I was a hobbit travelling with Gandalf through an inhabited labyrinth cave system. We got out of the cave and I was thinking in the dream about how faithful to the source material the dream reality was. It actually wasn't faithful to Tolkien at all. Very strange. But it was a very beautiful world and kind of hyper-real and almost lucid.

I’m totally stuck on Sea of Stars. I haven’t played in a few weeks and I can’t remember which way I’m supposed to go. I can’t figure it out. I don’t want to but I think I need to check a walk-through.

I’ve been singing a lot recently. It feels really good in my body. I’m really enjoying practicing trying to hit the notes properly without going into vocal fry so much. And also focusing on my breath. I feel like my lungs have got bigger too!
