Hello! My name is Stephen Haymond and welcome to my website. This is a place to come if you want to read stories that I write. I am 24 years old. I transferred from Brigham Young University to the University of Montevallo. I believe that I present a perspective that is not found in other people’s work here. I have lived all over the country. I was born in California, lived in Oregon until I was 8, lived in Michigan until I was 11, moved to Huntsville, went to school in Utah for three years, and somehow ended up here. The beautiful city of Montevallo. I have spent most of my life singing, writing, and trying to make as many friends as possible. Why would you be interested in me or the things I write?
I have always been a writer. I remember when I was small, maybe 6 or so, I would write stories. They would involve characters from my favorite things, namely Lord of the Rings and Legend of Zelda. I was not even able to type on a computer effectively, my oldest sister Emily would type out whatever silly story mashup came into my head. Then she would print them out and read them to me. I think in a lot of ways I have always wanted to be admired, even before I could type I wanted people to read or hear my thoughts and to think they were good. Throughout my life I can trace all of my words and decisions to this same want. Which I guess may sound a little honest but to me, life is people. If we are not actively engaging and discovering the details and beautiful intricacies of other people what are we really doing on this big blue rock anyways? People are the reason I get out of bed in the morning and why I look forward to the next one when I go to bed. I want my writing to be a celebration of the human condition. To be honest to whatever reason or purpose I aim my keyboard at. I vow to try and keep my own need for recognition out of whatever stories I try to tell. At the end of it all, writing is to entertain and enlighten. That is all I hope that you will leave with. Some entertainment and if I do my job well enough, maybe a little enlightenment.
