MRCPsych (Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists) is a globally recognised postgraduate qualification awarded by the Royal College of Psychiatrists, UK. It is designed for doctors pursuing specialist training and career advancement in psychiatry. The examination assesses a candidate’s understanding of psychiatric theory, clinical application, communication skills, and evidence-based mental healthcare practice.

To be eligible for the MRCPsych exam, candidates must hold a primary medical qualification recognised by the General Medical Council (GMC), UK, or an equivalent medical qualification approved in their respective country.
MRCPsych Paper A Eligibility: Candidates must possess a primary medical degree such as MBBS or an equivalent qualification. Psychiatry training is not mandatory to appear for Paper A.
MRCPsych Paper B Eligibility: Candidates must have successfully passed MRCPsych Paper A before applying for Paper B.
MRCPsych CASC Eligibility: Candidates must have successfully completed both MRCPsych Paper A and Paper B examinations before applying for the CASC (Clinical Assessment of Skills and Competencies) exam.
The MRCPsych examination is broadly divided into three stages:
