Have a question?
Ask our AI assistantA custom email address uses your domain name after the @ symbol. For example, if your domain is yourgroovydomain.com, you can create email addresses like info@yourgroovydomain.com and contact@yourgroovydomain.com.
To create a custom email address, follow these steps:
- Ensure you have a domain name registered, transferred, or connected to WordPress.com.
- Visit your site’s dashboard.
- Navigate to Upgrades → Emails.

💡
If you don’t see the Emails option in your site’s dashboard, you can visit our Site Profiler to make sure your domain name is hosted with WordPress.com.
Email requires a domain name that’s registered or connected to WordPress.com. The plan you need depends on which option you choose:
- A domain name registered with or transferred to WordPress.com can use email with no paid hosting plan required.
- Connecting a domain name registered with another provider requires a paid plan—you can’t connect an external domain name on a free site.
Adding email to your domain name doesn’t require setting it as your site’s primary address.
You can use any email provider with your domain. WordPress.com offers Professional Email and Google Workspace (which includes Gmail), and email is not included with your WordPress.com plan—visit the Emails page to view pricing in your currency.
Consider one of these email options:
- Get started with Professional Email
- Add Google Workspace to your domain
- Set up free email forwarding
- Add email through Office 365
- Add email through Zoho Mail
- Add email through other providers
📌
Only one email provider can be active on your domain at a time. Multiple email services on the same domain will not work.
To manage an existing email subscription, follow the guide for your email service. These cover billing, cancellation, and adding or removing mailboxes:
- Manage your Professional Email subscription for billing, cancellation, and mailboxes.
- Manage Google Workspace users to add, change, or remove mailboxes.
- Upgrade or cancel a Google Workspace subscription.
