Ar an Talamh is one of the most interesting and established acts on the contemporary Italian Celtic folk scene. Founded by singer and multi-instrumentalist Caterina Sangineto – daughter of renowned harp luthier Michele Sangineto – the group now performs as a quartet, featuring top-level musicians with solid international experience.
With a repertoire that blends Irish, Scottish, and Breton music, Ar an Talamh delivers a captivating, refined and accessible concert experience, adaptable to a wide variety of settings: folk festivals, world music showcases, cultural events, open-air stages, concert halls, and crossover contexts.
The band’s name – Ar an Talamh, meaning “On the Earth” in Irish Gaelic – encapsulates their artistic vision: a deep rooting in Celtic traditions, reimagined with contemporary sensitivity, creativity, and a distinctive sound. Their repertoire ranges from moving vocal ballads to rhythmic, high-energy instrumental sets, enriched by original compositions that reflect modern and multicultural influences.
