Stay

Teffont House, formerly known as Howard’s House, has welcomed artists, actors and aristocrats - so you’ll be among good company.

In the 1920s, the main house was the residence of artist and gardening enthusiast Henry Howard, who spent much time tending to the beautiful gardens which still surround the property today.

A stone wall with sparse climbing plants, set against a green, tree-lined landscape under a cloudy sky.

There are many wonderful walks through the Nadder Valley and numerous outdoor pursuits, so you can live like a local. The walled garden has a newly planted apple orchard, croquet lawn and badminton court where fierce competition is encouraged.

Within the grounds of the house, there are summer houses in the garden stocked with watercolour sets, paper and pencils for drawing and journalling. After dark, with a mug of Horlicks, or a night cap, take to the loungers to admire the stars, courtesy of the European ‘dark sky’ reserve.
